Texas Gets One Step Closer to Secession

No...let them go. It's a win/win. And I speak as someone who's mother and all her ancestors for over 150 years were Texans.

Oh I bet the left would LOVE to lose all those republican voters huh? That would sure up the democrat vote for the next 200 years.

Offered money for and Mexico rejected the offer as an insult to their National Sovereignty....so the US manufactured a border incident in order to declare war.
Mexico started the war, at the conclusion of which we purchased the land in question.

And 5 of the top 10 oil refineries are NOT in Texas.

75% of the natural gas reserves and 60% of all oil production is NOT in Texas.
So. A hypothetical independent country of Texas would financially be fine. They are a large enough. Have numerous warm water ports, and would be a significant energy exporter. in other words they would be fine.

Then what’s stopping them from leaving?

What happens if Texas secedes

1. Texans who are loyal Americans would move to the United States

Ypu think Texans are going to leave? LOL ok. Texas is one of the few states that has citizens who rabidly identify with their state.
2. The US Military and all their equipment would be withdrawn taking all those Federal Jobs with them.
To be replaced by the Texas military and all the jobs they would create…..
3. Mexico would see an unprotected Texas and use the opportunity to take back Texas. All Texans of Mexican descent would support the annexation. The US, irate over secession would not lift a finger

A México wouldn’t.
B Mexico couldnt
C A failed state of Texas doesn’t benefit the US

4. Republicans would lose all of Texas’ Electoral Votes along with any chance to retake the White House

The percentages would be reworked. Not sure exactly how that would work out.

Mexico has an Army of 300,000
Texas National Guard has 20,000 and relies on the US Army for its equipment.
Mexico also has resentment over Texas being stolen from them

Easy conquest to take back Texas

US wouldn’t lift a finger to save a former state that was disloyal to our country

Maybe Mexico can take over Texas and then offer to pay them a measly amount for it. That would be ironic justice.

Mexico isn’t invading Texas, and the US wouldn’t allow them to do so even if they wanted to. Mexico is a failed state they could have 2 million in their army and it wouldn’t matter. The US doesnt benefit from Mexico annexing Texas even if it seceded. I know it fuels you’re little wet dreams but it wouldnt happen.

Texas would have plenty of money to purchase weapons, plenty of companies ready to sell them said weapons and a more than willing population to fight that war. Over 10% of all US military recruits come from where? Texas. Do you think those kids are leaving Texas to join the US military in this hypothetical? One has to assume that 10% of the current us military is Texan and some amount of them would want to return Texas maybe most. It already has the bases, there are even intelligence apparatus which already exist in the state.

Not to mention the fact that the Mexican militaries primarly mission right now fighting the cartels. Do you really think they can afford to put significant forces and effort in a war against Texas without likely being over run by the cartels? They can’t control them currently and as far as I know they aren’t fighting Texas.

BTW Texas’s GDP is bigger than Mexico‘s……..

5 of the top 10 oil refineries in the US are in Texas.

25% of the natural gas reserves are in Texas and 40% of all oil production. They’d probably be ok
And if they let the state succeed they lose all the subsidies for them.

Ain't gonna happen.
