This Is Why America’s Military Is in Bad Shape

My understanding is that it is actually due more to Congress rather than Obama. Congress's inability to pass a budget caused sequestration in 2013. Due to the huge budget constraints created by that we are actually STILL feeling the effects and trying to catch up on maintenance.

As far as Obama's fault with the military, the simple fact is that it is stretched too thin. We are putting off modernizing our military (which is actually a huge danger as, to my understanding, we are going to have to dump billions in the Navy soon because our submarines are due for an upgrade to the Ohio-class). We need to pull our forces out of the areas that we have stuck ourselves into and, instead of spreading ourselves so thin that we do a lot of nothing pretty much everywhere, concentrate on a few key conflicts. This should allow us to both be more effective where it really counts and be able to reduce op-tempo and help catch up on maintenance and, hopefully, start modernizing our military again.

That wasn't Obama.

We're spending more in real dollars on defense than we spent at any time during the Cold War. Much more than even Reagan spent.

Another leftist genius...He's comparing dollars from 30 years ago to today dollars..As a percentage of GDP we are at 16% spent on defense

Spending more than 20 percent of our annual budget on war mongering is far too much, by any measure.
