Reagan hired one million civil servants during his second term in order to combat high unemployment at the time. His comment was that civil servants bought houses, cars, and clothing, just like every other employee and it was good for the economy. The size of government decreased under both Clinton and Obama, and grew under Reagan, Bush1 and Bush2.

W created the Department of Homeland Security - now one of the biggest departments in government. Did he raise taxes to fund Homeland Security? No he did not.

Bullshit. The Department of Homeland Security was a gift to Defense Department contractors in general, and Haliburton in particular. This was Cheney and his buddies, lining their own pockets at the taxpayers' expense.

Haliburton was given the logistics and supply contract for the Pentagon in the Iraq war. You know, the one where troops complained constantly about not getting armour plated vehicles to protect against land mines, not having sufficient night glasses and other basic equipment, for all of the troops, and other failures of logistics and support, some of which cost American lives.

Then, Haliburton was given a multi-billion contract to do Hurricane Katrina clean-up. That was the clean-up that three years later, had still not been fully completed.
