fact is, you can ban gun onwership, every other industrialized nation has done it, and they have a fraction of our crime and murder rates. Just because a bunch of Slave Rapists couldn't word a Militia Amendment properly doesn't mean that we have to share our streets with gun-weilding crazy people.

ON the other hand, the reason why abortion laws were thrown out was because they were unenforceable. YOu anti-choice types pretend that there were no abortions before 1973, when in fact, abortion was common, doctors just performed them and wrote down something else on the chart, and no one was actually enforcing the laws.

Hypocrisy is a fundamental part of our American psyche. We want our citizens to have freedom unless it goes against what we believe. The Right is just as guilty as the Left.
I grew up during the fight for Black's Civil Rights. The Right in the South then supported States Rights as a counter. The Left supported Federal supremacy over States Rights, not unlike the issues that led to the Civil War. In the drug legalization realm the Left supported the State's right to choose. Today the Left supports State's restrictions on guns over Federal supremacy (2nd Amend.) while the Right supports States Rights in the gay marriage debate.

It was and is bad law, and it's not a Constitutional issue. A fetus isn't an offspring until someone kills the baby in your wife's womb. The hypocrisy of the left on this is monumental. The question is do we want the government dictating our lives, invading our bedrooms, forcing us to become mere stewards of our property, and confining us like sheep in a fenced-in pasture? Do we want the government to limit freedom, rights, and liberties? Do we want the government acting as an entity unto itself, answerable to no one except itself? Do we want a voice in our affairs, a real voice, or do we want the government to speak for us as if we're ignorant, uneducated, and helpless without them? Exactly where do we draw the line between a representative government, by the people, and for the people, and a dictatorship acting to control the masses and becoming the absolute authority?

There's a point to where it becomes a dictatorship masked as a representative government. Are we at that point? Do we honestly have taxation with fair, equal, and just representation?

Guns and a woman's body can be debated from now until eternity. The question is how much control do we want, and how much are we willing to delegate to the government. Can we not trust ourselves? Are we so weak and uneducated, that we need a caretaker government in our bedrooms and directing our every step? In my opinion, the government should stick to national defense, infrastructure, and providing a fair and impartial judicial system of true justice, and let the American people run their lives as they see fit.

For me, a conservative, the answer is to do what the founders intended and let states make those decisions. Basic rights should be protected but states should take it from there. Why? It's much more beholding to the people. State laws are fairly easy to change and as time goes on, technology, culture, etc. people are free to lobby and change those laws. If you really can't live with a state law you are free to move.

The federal government has increasingly encroached on the people dictating from central planners. Those laws are very difficult to change and much more subject to politics and deal making.

No. There is no issue here. Where the hell do you get this from?

The 2nd Amendment wasn't fully incorporated until 2010 and not a "right" that you had. It is now incorporated. It's a non issue. It's just really damn fun to watch you folks have a stroke behind the screen.

More importantly, nobody gave a hot damn about gun rights until the 1980s. Nobody. Guns were not a big deal and lots of people had them and had always had them. Then in the 90s people had a knipshit of the militarization of police that had to have better weapons because that was what they were fighting on the streets.

You know there is a problem with the mentally ill getting a hold of guns. You don't address it. You know there is a problem with not being able to lock up those with gun charges for awhile but you don't address it. You don't want to deal with the loopholes or even try to work towards stiffer sentencing penalties. You don't want to address the Tiahrt Amendments.

The best you can come up with is to make a sweeping generalization/comparison with liberals and you have the almighty gall to talk about hypocrisy.
