And I wonder if our elected leaders will do anything about Gub'mint employees retiring at 52, with full pension and lifetime free healthcare...While their contemporaries in the Real World have to continue working for another couple decades.

Please provide the link to the evidence that a retired Fed worker gets free healthcare for life. Hell, retired military do not even get free healthcare unless it is through the VA and is service related.

There are the FICA deductions.


The Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) is the federal law that requires you to withhold three separate taxes from the wages you pay your employees. FICA is comprised of:

• a 6.2 percent Social Security tax;
• a 1.45 percent Medicare tax (the “regular” Medicare tax); and
• beginning in 2013, a 0.9 percent Medicare surtax when the employee earns over $200,000.

These were not affected by the tax cuts. Pull your heads out of your asses.

OF COURSE they are affected, they all are in the budget....and social security SURPLUS taxes were borrowed to pay for what income taxes should have been paying in the annual budget spending....and NOW that all the money they borrowed from SS is coming DUE to pay back SS, the income tax cuts for the wealthiest make it impossible for them to do, THUS Ryan's plan to cut Medicare and social security....

we are also looking at raising the retirement age

retirement age has to be raised & the means test deal is also unfortunately inevitable...
