I have no problem with that - not sure, personally, that the current laws regarding platforms adequately address what they have become.

But here is a question - and I've asked it before but no one has provided an answer. Removing that protection means they can be sued, but it does not mean that they MUST provide a platform for any and everyone, just as publishers don't have to publish any and everyone. It seems to me that opening the door to lawsuits would be counter to your desire because it means they could be sued by someone for content that is defamatory, false, libelous or possibly dangerous (for example Pizzagate). Content would face greater scrutiny as a result.

In terms of bakers, bars etc - I don't think that is the same. You have laws regarding public access and non-discrimination. A bar can not discriminate racially for example, but they CAN require people to wear shirts and shoes in order to be served. A platform can't discriminate based on ideology alone but they CAN require in their ToS no hate speech, calls for violence etc and be perfectly in their rights as long as it's across the board.

Hmm. I've never heard of the TreeHouse but this is VERY troubling and following an alarming PATTERN. I wonder how Democrats would feel if they were being censored left and right everywhere they turn? Seems to me that companies like FB, Twitter and Wordpress, if they are to host pipelines of communication should not be in the business of limiting WHAT goes through their pipeline!

BEFORE ANYONE DISAGREES, let me put it to you THIS WAY:

• What if tomorrow your telephone or cellular provider notified you they were cancelling your account because some of your conversations contained topics and language that was incompatible with their ideology?
• What if tomorrow, your electricity or gas provider notified you that they were cancelling your account because some of the things you run off their energy or some of the things you do with those appliances was incompatible with their company mandate?

THE THING IS: companies which host primary networks of communication considered virtually ESSENTIAL now have no business having an "ideology." Where is the government on this? I hate to say it, but companies like FB, Twitter, et al., have no right to censor anyone because they don't like their content. I've never used these platforms but where in the application to use them do they state they are a CONTENT-DRIVEN app which intends to promote only certain limited views, ideologies, thoughts, topics and views? And if you intend to talk outside that sphere, DON'T BOTHER APPLYING?

A few months back I dropped using a local site called 'Nextdoor' because they instituted new rules WHICH I HAD TO AGREE TO SIGNING ON after being a member for a couple years where reading them, I could not in good conscience agree to-- -- -- I could see that in effect, they had designed their rules where most anything I might say, express or talk about, could be labeled as hate-speech, or some such thing! In effect, "hate-speech" is now anything you say that someone else doesn't like. Worse, I was being attacked by others for simply saying the truth or expressing the other side of stories, with apparent impunity. So I left.

1. All companies like FB, Twitter, Wordpress, et al, need regulated by the government making it illegal to censor or ban people for simple content. At worst, they can organize it by CATEGORY, and if it contains actual hate, violent talk, racism, crazy stuff, then relegate it to its own area, kind of like here, in a "conspiracy" room or flaming area, that you know what you're getting into when going there.
2. There needs to be huge fines for companies stepping on freedom of speech. I mean, it's the FIRST amendment in the Bill of Rights! Yes, I know, they are not the government, but utilities are regulated and these are the utility of the New Age. Social platforms like these are literally where most of the world's news, communication and dialog happen now-- -- a VERY dangerous place to be imposing personal restrictions on what one person agrees with over someone else.
3. The CTH needs to file an injunction against Wordpress to stop their closing their account on the basis of the HARM it would do and ask the court for the time needed to find a new host and a means to move their stored content, even if that means putting the onus on Wordpress to bear the cost of doing so. And if Wordpress destroys their content before it can be saved and moved off site, they need to be sued for millions. Again, in effect, maybe this needs treated under anti-trust laws as in effect, these companies in censoring/destroying content are creating a MONOPOLY: not only in business, but in what is allowed to be discussed.

I hope this crap is stopped in its tracks. I never thought I'd live to see the day where individual viewpoints, opinions and THOUGHT would be suppressed, banned, even CRIMINALIZED, first in the media, then in the universities, and now finally even on the internet.

You can bet that a Biden Administration will not be proactive in protecting freedom of thought and speech, ESPECIALLY conservative, and the conservative community better get off its FAT ASS and start fighting back to protect itself.

Sadly, this just illustrates once again, the ever-widening division in this country and WHO is driving it. The Left have NO INTENTIONS on letting up.

Like Bakers? Or bars? How about restaurants? As for Twitter Facebook and the others they are protected by federal LAW so they can be inclusive, they don't want that? Remove the protection.

I have no problem with that - not sure, personally, that the current laws regarding platforms adequately address what they have become.

But here is a question - and I've asked it before but no one has provided an answer. Removing that protection means they can be sued, but it does not mean that they MUST provide a platform for any and everyone, just as publishers don't have to publish any and everyone. It seems to me that opening the door to lawsuits would be counter to your desire because it means they could be sued by someone for content that is defamatory, false, libelous or possibly dangerous (for example Pizzagate). Content would face greater scrutiny as a result.

In terms of bakers, bars etc - I don't think that is the same. You have laws regarding public access and non-discrimination. A bar can not discriminate racially for example, but they CAN require people to wear shirts and shoes in order to be served. A platform can't discriminate based on ideology alone but they CAN require in their ToS no hate speech, calls for violence etc and be perfectly in their rights as long as it's across the board.

They are NOT living up to the deal, they ARE discriminating based on political beliefs.
