The top 10 cities people are looking to put in their rearview mirrors

I was just in the forum of California's AB-5 bill that now prohibits independent truckers from operating there. It's just one example of how these Democrats inflate the price of things.
That only impacts 70,000 people which is about 0.2% of the entire California population. And it’s only temporary.

“The California Trucking Association, which brought that challenge, estimates the law may push thousands of independent truckers off the road while they take the necessary steps to comply with the new regulations.“

Looks like a minor inconvenience for a few people. The bigger issue is obviously housing prices, which impacts everyone.

And not surprisingly, they are all blue cities.

Top 10 Cities People Are Looking to Leave

Cities people want to flee:

  1. San Francisco
  2. Los Angeles
  3. New York City
  4. Washington, DC
  5. Seattle
  6. Boston
  7. Detroit
  8. Denver
  9. Chicago
  10. Minneapolis

Well, tough shit for them. Apparently, the green globalists plan to shove EVERYONE into the cities, into vast apartment blocks.

You're kidding yourself if you think a shortage of drivers won't impact you. Without us your store shelves would be bare empty. It's not temporary. The law has been on the books several years and is just going into effect. It's going to make the supply chain much worse and yes, increase prices. The stupid law says you have to be employed by somebody. How are you going to employ yourself? The country is short 60,000 drivers now and predicted to quickly get worse as more of us boomers retire with nobody to replace us.

Union labor makes housing much more expensive, and as Dementia let's millions more people into this country, supply and demand dictates as it always does. You have to put them somewhere, and the ones Abbot doesn't bus to DC or NYC, they stay right where they entered the country. Newsom sure as hell isn't going to bus them out of his state. He welcomes them with open arms.

You gave an answer to your previous words. As you boomers retire, there will be millions of newcomers to replace you on your workplaces. In 'Russian segment' of YouTube there are numerous channels of Russian migrants who work as truck drivers in the US.

You’re blowing this out of proportion. This trucking law that you have a problem with isn’t the reason why it’s more expensive in California. It’s because people are willing to pay more to be here.

Yes, but they are a problem.

If you are a US citizen, you have to get the training, take the written test, take a road test before they hand you a license. If you're a foreigner, you don't have to do anything. Just present your former countries license to drive a truck (which you can get for a five dollar bill and pack of cigarettes) and our country gives you reciprocity.

Bottom line is we are allowing foreigners who never drove a truck in their life on our roads. They don't even speak English yet alone read it, and they are driving next to your minivan with kids in it.

This became evident to me watching some of them try to back in a trailer. I could tell they never did it before. These foreigners are a danger on our roadways. IMO, if you want to drive a truck in the US, get the training, pass the tests, and I'm fine with it.

We were discussing two different subjects. One was the cost of living and the other is the problem this moron created which yes, will contribute to higher costs along with a host of other things.

If I can't afford to pay taxes in a city or state, I need to make much more money. That's one of the problems. You have taxes, high utility costs, and things cost more with union workers.

Yes, CA has the weather, but so does Texas and Florida, and their cost of living in nowhere near yours. Florida is quickly becoming the choice of states to go to. My niece moved there over five years ago and she loves it. I don't think she's ever coming back in spite of her sadness not being around family.

There is nothing good about the northeast. The weather sucks and they too have high cost of living. The only commonality is they are all liberal ran cities and states.

It’s not the taxes or the utility costs or anything related to unions that make it so expensive here. The vast majority of the issue is the housing costs.

"Crazy house prices have upended the market in the last two years, triggering what the real estate brokerage firm Redfinlabels unprecedented levels of relocation. Specifically, prospective home buyers seem to be leaving cities where prices are too high in favor of more affordable locales."

People aren’t leaving California because of this trucking law. They’re leaving because it’s too expensive to buy a home here.

Cost of living includes housing, obviously. Nicer things tend to cost more. People are willing to pay more to live in California and New York than they are to live in Bumblefuck, Alabama. People are getting priced out and are moving because of it.

Why yes...Compton is an amazing city...all good, decent people want to live there…it's safe with great schools, lots of homelessness, gang activity, violent crime and tons of weed and porn shops…it’s so cool.

Nobody is arguing with that. They are lowering the standards. But still, they are filling the gap.

And it's expensive to buy a home there between union labor and city regulations which are costly. I don't know if you're losing people because of housing prices. I would say that it's the CA residents that own their own trucks that will leave eventually. Owner operators like to take a load out of their home state and bring one back. If they can't do that in CA, they'll move somewhere they can.

When global warming leaves, I like to watch HGTV Property Brothers. I see the price difference to remodel a home between CA and other places. It's twice the cost there. The property brothers don't actually do the work themselves, they subcontract the work out to local remodelers.

Hardly. That's why we are still short over 60,000 drivers.
Okay, I will correct myself - they are partially filling the gap. Some of them say there are many Indian immigrants who turn their look on this field. And it is quite hard to compete with them. True it or not, I don't know.

A lot of them are from the middle-east. That's why I said they just get these truck drivers licenses from their country and convert it into ours when most of them never drove a truck in their lives. They don't hide it either. They used to come up to me all the time saying "please, please mister, I no know how to back in trailer, I never did before!" I would never back their trailer in, but I often helped them back in because I was waiting for a dock. It's either help them out or you're going to have to wait an additional half-hour watching them try to do it.

What is this Californian law about? Can it solve this problem at least partially? From what I can get, these guys could come into the US, buy a truck and work freely as owner-operators.

That's what this law is all about, trying to get rid of owner operators. They only want drivers who work for a company to take the loads. Problem is most of the truck drivers are independents that have their own truck. Their ports are backed up and have been for months, and this new law is only going to make it worse.

Unions contribute big bucks to the Democrat party come election time. There are no union owner operators.

What does a company mean in this regard? There will be requirements of how many trucks it must have, trade unions and so on? Will it be suffice if this company employs only two persons and owns one truck?
