The turning the electors is such a utter waste of time it is a travesty

OMG! The republicans said it? Not even a grain of a clue have you?

Oh, I understand why the 46% voted for him.. I understand some Trump voters who watch the politicians who never seem to want to fix the problems and voted for the Game Show Host as a big Fuck You to the establishment of both parties.

It doesn't take away from the fact Trump lacks the intellect, integrity, experience and temperament to be president... and even Republicans have said so.
We curbed the GOP'ers the same way we curbed you fascist democrats....

This whole thing, turning electors, screaming about the popular vote, the fake Russian hacking, is nothing more than a ruse and after Monday the left will claim Trump is not the president, that he stole the election, etc. Same crap they pulled on Bush and unfortunately like the birther issue with Obama. Just wash, rinse, repeat.

You might have a point here. We could add Bill Clinton to the list of "Presidents that the other side didn't consider legitimate" for whatever reason.

Obviously, Trump will have more of a stink on him because of the Russian Hacking, that he lost the popular vote by such a large margin, and because he's an all-around Nazi buffoon.

But you do have this problem because we have a system where someone can become president without winning a clear majority or even getting the most votes.

A simpler solution would be to abolish the Electoral College and do run-off elections if no one wins 50% of the vote.

Apparently, the folks scattered across the broadest breaches of this land wanted him. The Democrats carried only a very few states. It may well be that Trump will end up with 330 Electoral votes. You can spin it any way you want to but on Monday, Donald J. Trump will officially become the 45th President of the United States.

I'm sure he will. And it will be a complete fucking disaster. He'll also be the first successfuly impeached president.

I was discussing how the Republicans, if they were smart, could use the system to avoid this. But they won't. Instead, they will jam a president most Americans didn't want down our throat and own his ineptitude.

Will you agree to eat those words if he creates thousands of jobs, restores law and order, and secures our border?

You hear these liberal elitist actors like Martin Sheen tell the electors need to change their minds. First I want to point out one of the best judges of character is how your kids turn out. Trumps kids, despite the privileged life style have turned out to be pretty decent people, Charlie Sheen on the other hand is a immoral, sociopath and an all all around awful person. Good job on that one. I digress.

The reason it is a waste of time is:
(1) When you vote in the general election you are not just voting for a candidate, rather you are voting for the electors who vote for the candidate. All the electors that Trump won throughly vetted and selected by the RNC. They are strong party loyalists and don't have a hint of bipartisanship. They were selected precisely for this reason.

(2) Most State laws require their vote to reflect the people of the state. The troll in TX faces arrest and imprisonment. Not to mention be black balled from the party.

(3) You don't just need them to vote for someone else you need them to vote for Clinton and you won't be able to get 1 to do that (not even the troll in TX will do that) and you need 37 to do that. Never going to happen.

(4) Even if they got 37 electors to vote for another candidate, Clinton still loses. At that point the vote goes to the House where the GOP has a solid majority and at that point they literally can only select between Trump and Clinton. I doubt you find even one RHINO to jump ship.

This is a big waste of time and liberal should be ashamed of themselves. The sooner all the Sheens big the dust the better.

It's either that or they accept Democrats lost. That's a no brainer to the idiots

Nope, because he won't do any of those things. If they happen at all, it will be despite him, not because of him.

However, what he has done has made racism and misogyny acceptable in the national discourse. He's made foreign interference in our elections acceptable. He's made conflicts of interest and lack of tax transperancy acceptable.

In short, he's done a bunch of damage without ever taking office.

So in short, you won't accept responsibility for your own blatherings?

every day it becomes more apparent

Black Republican father-daughter electors will vote with pride: 'I make no apologies'

A pure popular vote for presidential elections disenfranchises rural states… Fact

GOP electors cite rural voice in Electoral College

Maybe so, but so does the minority political view in non-swing states.

I think the electoral vote should be broken down to the voting district and where the state votes as a whole.

3/4 to the voting district and 1/4 where the state votes as a whole. Every election the candidates only focus on a handful of states and the others get ignored. I live in one of those states where my minority viewpoint gets ignored.

Most people didn't want Hillary either, no one had a majority.

Still this election showed ignoring rural states is a losing proposition...

Meh, not really. Only about 30 districts are currently competitive because of Gerrymandering. YOu just want to trade one unearned GOP advantage for antoher.

Because if you had one person, one vote, you'd lose every time.

Gerrymandering is the Democrats brainchild and both parties are guilt of using it to their advantage! Do I need to show you the worst Congressman in the House's -Luis Gutierrez- voting district.

But your argument is completely inaccurate. In every state the minority party wins many districts. The votes should be proportionate to the district

So what's your alternative. Not representing the Hispanic Population of IL at all? Hispanics make up 16% of the population of IL, but they only get one out of 18 Congressmen.

Actually, the Gerrymandering has done worse than that. You see, we used to have moderate Republicans. Now the biggest fear isn't that a Republican will lose the general elections, it's that some Teabagger or Trumpkin will vote him out of office in the primary where only 10% of voters participate.

The same could be said of the Democratic side, but they haven't lost their fucking minds the way the REpublicans have. Yet.

Yet there is no avenue for a sensible centrist party to evolve.
