1. This isn't the old west. We aren't allowed to be judge, jury and executioner on our own, then of course, there's that pesky "innocent until proven guilty" thing most nations go by.
2. The court and jury will decide if the guy that he fired at is guilty of a sex crime, and will deal out the prescribed punishment, which by the way, isn't the death penalty for people that haven't murdered anyone. A life sentence is fine, but no one was murdered.
3. His actions not only endangered the public, but the guy's mother and stepfather who were guilty of nothing, were clearly in danger from the guy's actions.

First. The analogy is erroneous. Let me elucidate you. For the analogy to be accurate, a man pretending to be a Doctor would walk in to the wrong operating room and perform a surgery on another patient.
