Now, since the Adam Lanza shootings are an extreme minority in the gun murders in this country, your concerns seem focused in the wrong area. Putting violent offenders away and keeping them in prison seems to be a better solution.
Guy, we lock up more people than any country in the world. We have 2.3 million people in prison and another 7 million on probation or parole.
Again, those countries like Japan or Germany - where they don't let every asshole buy a gun - only lock up 70-80 thousand.
If Guns and Prisons made us safer, we'd have the lowest murder rates in the industrialized world, not the highest.
We lock up nonviolent offenders more than any other nation. Stop doing that and our numbers shrink.
And, after they commit murders and go to prison, we let them out again in a parole system that makes no sense. Someone gets busted for possession of pot and they get 10 years and do 10 years. Someone commits murder and the get 25 years and they do 5 years. Stop letting the violent felons out.
