If it hadn't been Gettysburg it would have been any one of a hundred other places. The South had no chance of winning that war. When it started the entire economy of the South equaled about 1/4 of the economy of New York state alone.
The South was like Japan in WW2. Near parity in arms at the start and they faired well for a year or two, but once the US economy and industrial base kicked in it was all over but the singing. The South had no chance. Thankfully.
And to try to tie the South's treason to the founders is ludicrous. The founders wanted to end slavery in 1776 but the realities were other at the time. They knew though that the issue had to be settled at some point in the future. You can't say 'All men are created equal' while you own slaves.
