I know that there was another thread similar to this but me and my man were just talking about how if we ever have a daughter we both LOVE the name Journey. I've heard it used for boys too but it sounds way too feminine to me.

Anyways, we also think that she could always go by Joey if she didn't like it which I think is a pretty cute nickname. I'm just wondering if that's a name that will be made fun of for being too unique as usually it's just a word to take trips or the band Journey, but I also think that it sounds beautiful as a name too.

So I'm just curious to hear some feedback and please be honest about what you guys think.

Also I'm thinking that it's not all that different from the name Destiny which is a very pretty name as well. 😊

Nobody makes fun of names anymore. It might start, but the teachers will crucify (figuratively) the person who tries it.

I am old and I disdain what I think of as bullshit names, like "Jenna." Not really a name. "Autumn," "Brooklyn," and so on.

Naming a child is a way to make a statement...maybe you want to honor a grandparent or a revered Aunt. Maybe you want to inspire your child to emulate a historical figure, like Rachel, David, or Abraham. Using a bullshit name is a way of saying that you have nothing to say on the matter, and just want to produce a sound that you like.

But I'm old. Pay no attention to me.

I actually really like the name Autumn but it's not my favorite. I actually thought of Journey because it's very symbolic on our life's journey thus far. For the record I love the classic names too like David and Annie I'm huge fans of but I just personally love the way that Journey sounds. However, I already realize that it probably isn't going to be everybody's cup of tea.

It seems rather appropriate considering your screen name.

Sure, if you want her to be picked on in school by the kids with normal names then go ahead and name her Journey.

It’s a nice name I suppose.

So do you actually genuinely like it then?

From what another poster in this thread was saying kids can't really get away with making fun of other kids names anymore and with names like Apple and Mercedes I do believe that Journey is the prettiest and like I was saying before even though I made this thread because I was originally worried about what you're talking about, at least she can go by Joey if that happens.

Not like there's anything wrong with her name itself, I just know that kids can be cruel just because somebody has a different name.
