Tohono O'Odham Nation says no to Trump wall

. . . which has nothing to do with treaty agreement between the US and the Tohono O'Oodham Nation.

The reservation is and always was still the United States, dumbass. The current fence is under the jurisdiction of the Border Patrol. Stick with something you know something about....if there is anything you know something about.

This reservation gets paid plenty by the cartels to move both people and drugs. This might be part of the border that doesn't get a wall but alternstive surveillance.
I don't know about the cartels part, but alternative surveillance north of the reservation might be sensible.

I think part of the reservation is in Mexico, has always been, and that is the problem.

AZ Indian Tribe That Controls 75 Miles of Border Won’t Allow TRUMP WALL on their Land (VIDEO)

Tribal leadership of Tohono O’odham Nation in southern Arizona said they won’t support a border wall project on their land. Part of their reservation extends into Mexico and covers 75 miles of the international border.

The tribe’s chairman and vice chair said the plan was always to try to work with whoever holds the office of the United States President. But, they added, it’s still too early to tell exactly how Donald Trump’s administration will impact the tribe.

Vice Chairman Verlon Jose explained tribal members have traversed their ancestral land since time immemorial, and a wall of any sort would not be supported by the community.

“Over my dead body will a wall be built,” Jose said, describing some community members’ sentiments. “I don’t wish to die but I do wish to work together with people so we can truly protect the homeland of this place they call the United States of America. Not only for our people but for the American people.”
Tonto is Trump's sidekick/flunky now.

The border easement of land between Mexico and the United States that is owned by the government is 60 feet wide. Plenty wide enough to build a wall. ..... ....

The Roosevelt Reservation is a 60-foot (18 m) strip of land on the United States side of the United States-Mexico Border under the jurisdiction of the United States Federal Government. It was established in a 1907 Presidential Proclamation (35 Stat. 2136) by Theodore Roosevelt in order to keep the land "free from obstruction as a protection against the smuggling of goods between the United States and Mexico".

What might be sensible is looking at a map before you make a suggestion like that:

Think this will make a difference? BTW, Trump gets to choose 100+ lower court judges whenever he gets around to it.
Of course it does. Trump's 100 judges will not outweigh the 400 or 500 Obama judges of the last eight years. The Treaty is safe.

Your title is misleading.
They say they won't support it. Any reservation is deemed as such by the Feds.

That means nothing. They can and will stop it. The land is theirs. The easement, thanks to SM for point it out, is another matter. Treaty will determine if the Tribe can stop the Feds from moving the equipment, etc., across the land to the easement.

"And can have gates so the dirt-worshippers can wander out into the desert to eat their peyote buttons and chant shit" is somewhat a distraction but like the Baptist kids who go to Bible Vacation camp and chant stuff and take communion. Got it.

Maybe Trump can build a door and they can wander into Mexico....and find the door locked when they try to return.

I live next to their reservation, which they have kept essentially pristine and undeveloped, while Tucson urban sprawl is starting to look like Phoenix. These people are serious about protecting what is left of their ancestral land, and they have a lot of support down here. I, and a lot of people I know, plan to support them, and, as said by someone else on this thread, it is going to be Standing Rock, all over again. There are a lot if churches, and civic organizations who have already expressed their support. These are peaceful, non violent people. They are not going to follow the example of the RW nuts in Oregon, but they will go full passive resistance. They have treaties, and they will use their casino earnings to fight this to the Supreme Court.
Would the suggestion of building the wall around the reservation to the north, east and west work? Rather than fight? This has been a road block before. Has that solution been proposed.

Ther reservation includes the most beautiful parts of the Sonoran Desert, and is about the only place that Saguaros grow. It would be like building a concrete wall around Yosemite Park. Also, I-19 goes through it. It would destroy the beauty and serenity of the area. Also, by treaty, the Native Americans are also US citizens, and if you require US citizens from going to and from their reservation to the rest of AZ, it would be equivalent to requiring passports for people in New York City to leave the city limits. Even the Fascist-in-Chief is not capable of that.

Don't you get tired of being wrong about EVERYTHING??

You really are stoopid

Liberal nightmare: Trump could appoint half federal judiciary
Says the silly Edge. The operative word above is "could" so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

And that is providing he is not impeached and removed before that.

If it's a matter of national security, which it will be, the wall will be built where it is determined it will be most effective.
