I know they need to memorize math right. I'm a fan of Common Core, Common Core leads to analytical thinking not memorization.

Try helping a child with their common core homework. I do everyday with TWO kids.

Think of it as doing algebra. Its a good sign if you can't help your kids with their homework, it doesn't mean your dumb, just your kids are learning things differently The kids in private schools are leaning this stuff, so your kids need to learn it too. Education is key, don't let them dumb your kids down. PS: Story problems are the best.

I am very familiar with math on all levels (I don't have kids coming to me with math that I can't do; I'm not stupid like our current "president."). Common core is not designed to facilitate the higher levels of math. It's laborious and trite. And it is exactly what dumbs the kids down; furthermore, it wastes time and turns kids off of math. It was all part of a scheme designed to enrich certain benefactors and to continue with the zombieification of our youth.

How would it dumb your kids down??

Well, when they're having to take 15 minutes to do 51 plus 27 on a consistent basis and not learning that math is not that complicated...

Take a closer look. There are definitely Bush era people being appointed to Trump's cabinet. And those who are not Bush people easily could have been as they are the epitome of establishment Republicans.

Betsy DeVos, the choice for Education, is a champion of privately run charter schools and voucher plans to help parents pay private school tuition. Before Trump, she supported Jeb Bush.

Steven Mnuchin, the choice for Treasury, is a billionaire who worked for Goldman Sachs before buying a bank of his own. (Like Trump, he was once a Democrat, but he’s a Republican now.) Mnuchin says his first priority is cutting taxes, especially corporate taxes.

Wilbur Ross, the Commerce secretary in waiting, is another billionaire investor. His main cause is negotiating better trade deals, but he also wants to dismantle most of the Dodd-Frank financial regulation law.

Ben Carson, the former neurosurgeon, may add a dash of eccentricity at Housing and Urban Development — in part because he has no real experience in housing policy — but his views are pretty standard for the GOP. Carson once called fair housing a “failed socialist experiment” and told a television interviewer that “poverty is really more of a choice than anything else.”

I don't know where your critical thinking is Penelope. What kind of idiots invent a system where 2 plus 2 doesn't have to equal 4. When math became more English than Math, we started dumbing down the kids by making it so confusing even I can't understand it. Memorization worked really well.

Way to sidestep.

Common core math processes are utter garbage mostly because everything that they are taught must be unlearned to get to the next level. The manner that my children were learning to add and subtract was a joke and only worked with simple problems. As soon as things got more complex they had to teach them how to do it properly.

Who is they ?

I don't care for his CIA pick or Education secretary ( I don't trust her rhetoric on common core) or Labor secretary (doesn't want people making good wages and loves illegals in the country) and I really don't understand WHY Trump picked him and I DESPISE his deputy SOS pick if it is Bolton because he has the ideology of a failed administration and doesn't have the calmness to be a negotiator. But the majority of his picks I do like or at least understand. Especially all the military folks.But those few I don't like don't control much that the states can't do something about. The states can decide education policy for themselves a lot,they can also pick their own wages etc.

He is certainty not hiding the fact that he is choosing the elites to run the USA, its called Plutocracy. Unless you are one of them, time to bend over.
