Unlike Obama, Trump didn’t work out any arrangement with NARA for disposition of the records. Obama and NARA worked out a deal to send the records to Hoffman Estates, with NARA managing the facility, while Obama’s foundation pays for the records to be processed and digitized. Once that process is complete, the records will most likely go back to the Maryland facility where NARA has been attempting to aggregate them. The point is the records are always in custody of the federal government and nothing happens without their authorization.

Not that I blame him since Trump was only in office one term he wouldn’t have thought about setting up a presidential library.
