Birthright citizenship would be a Supreme Court issue, and I think we would have to wait for the proper justices to be nominated before that happens.

Whether illegals have kids here or not, if they have children, those children are entitled to government benefits. Because the benefits are so generous, the entire family can live off of them.

One of the problems Democrats have created for us it to treat illegals as citizens. In liberal states, they can get drivers licenses and even use that registration to vote. That should be stopped in the same way Trump is threatening sanctuary cities. Another way we cater to them is turning our country into a bilingual nation. We need to pass a law that English is our official language, and if you can't understand it, too bad. We should no longer have ballots and signs in public buildings written in any other language but English.

I should show you what one of my tenants did to the place---rather allowed her kid to do to the place. It took me two months to get that unit back into shape.

It's bad enough tenants think you are living on top of the world, it's worse when the city does.

Over here, they instituted a apartment inspection which you need every time a new tenant moves in. It costs $250.00 for the inspection and occupancy permit, plus all the down time waiting for them to inspect, find something wrong, and then come back to reinspect.

So I complained to my councilman about it. And he told me the Mayor thought that the city should get a cut out of all the money we are making renting in his city. His city???

I told him to tell the Mayor anytime he wants to see my tax returns, I'll be glad to show him. Between the rentals and my full-time job, I get a tax refund every single year because of the hundreds of deductions I have. Most of my rent collections go towards utilities, taxes, mortgage payments, and repairs.

It's a great long term investment, but nothing you can make a living off of.

Thanks for confirming what ray from cleveland and I were discussing in post #309. People who have never run a business or even had a rental to run, haven't a clue. And Trump's business is way more complicated. If he has others running his business and it doesn't get run into the ground, it proves that he can pick the right people and delegate authority.

Looks like your county is less business owner friendly then mine, too, although I sold out just a few months before everything crashed. Market reached new highs. That sounds great, but that's way out of my league. Retirement is exactly what I had in mind. Yeah, I have a retirement plan at work, and of course, I'll get SS, but I'm not secure enough with those two. I need something more if I live that long.

Government is forcing me out of work, so I don't know if I'll work right up to retirement. I'm kicking and screaming along the way, but you never know. I'd hate to go on disability just because the government thinks I can't do my job.
