The guy is an arrogant and egotistical asshole sometimes yeah, but he never wanted people to storm the capitol. He is too smart to know that would do absolutely nothing but hurt him and doesn't benefit the country.

At the end of the day I think he really did want what was best for America. If you get past his rantings and sometimes crazy tweets and looked past his personality and simply look at his stats you can see he did a great many things that helped America and Americans. On paper from a statical point of view he was fantastic.

It's all about the optics of it all and how manufactured negativity they can create for the news to report on so they can try and make Americans not like him. According to Trump's National Guard, they had only 125 guards ready to be called up for help at the Capitol on 1/6 and even those guard were not sent in a timely manner, as the guard promissed, when they were requested. Trump admin would not even let the Mayor use the guard she had for traffic control be used to stop the riot, when she asked for permission.

Her first request for NG was to help with traffic and crowd patrol. When Trumpers decided to riot, and Metro police were sent to help at the capitol, she requested NG, and the Admin/Defence Dept DENIED her, several times, she then requested that her NG Traffic control guys could be used to help the Capitol riot, and once again they denied her, said no.

Even Trump's people admit that no formal offer for troops were made. The day of the event, it is unclear whether Trump finally authorized troops or Pence did. The Capitol Police are in charge of security for the capitol not Pelosi.
