All Trump needs to do is promote a reasonable compromise and then the ball is in the dems' court. A compromise like $3.9b of wall funding and green cards for the DACA kids.

He was actually given $25B of wall funding and a resolution and path to citizenship for DACA kids a few months ago. He said he would sign it the Faux Paus Nuz called him for facing and he balked, just a few months ago!

Actually this could HELP Trump and the Republicans if they play it correctly. Probably 80% of the Federal employees who are not military or postal service are filling illegal jobs in illegal departments. The nation will continue on without the 25% who are furloughed. This is an opportunity to show people the Government will still run without these people - and bang the drum for the budget savings if their jobs were to be permanently removed.

Mexico can still pay for the wall with some left over to pay for foreign aid if Congress taxed the "remittances" sent from the US to foreign countries. That money should be spent here and taxed, supporting jobs and the tax base
