Why do we need witnesses when the House said they had an airtight case with overwhelming, incontrovertible evidence?????
Because the house does not convict.

It has been trump who has refused consistently to allow witnesses to testify who, presumably, would provide testimony that would exonerate him, and refused to provide documents that could also help him. These actions, while not proving guilt, do suggest that he is hiding something; a suggestion that is given support by the testimony of those who did testify.

You need to start looking at crazy Iran Nan's impeachment like Biden's exposure of the democrat Party and Mitt Romney's Ukrianian Money Laundering Operation, it's the last thing they'll ever do as a national Party. It's a desperate, last act to try to drag Trump down with them.

Historians will see a democrat Party openly embracing Stalinesque tactics, laundering taxpayer money to enrich themselves, flooding the country with illegal adults while selling illegal children to their fellow pedophiles and clearly state that Iran Nan's rushed and flawed impeachment was a petty, despicable act to besmirch Trump

Why do we need witnesses when the House said they had an airtight case with overwhelming, incontrovertible evidence?????

They were supposed to present a case for impeachment, they didn't
They did. And they voted to impeach. Now the Senate holds the trial and considers to convict.

The Senate is the jury, not prosecution #2.

No he is not. Why whites such as yourself continue trying to make trump a friend of blacks really makes no sense.

That 75% want democrat witnesses like Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, Ciaramella, Chalupa, Brennan, Comey, Shiff, etc.,
not just Bolton, Mulvaney, and the other WH guys who can't testify due to Executive Privilege claims until the courts settle them. There won't be any testimony or the House dems would have pursued it.

The best post said it: The senate is the jury, the House is the prosecution.

So what? Laws > Polling.

There's an impeachment process in place in the Constitution, that's what govern, not polling data.

Iran Nan needed to build her case, instead she forced the vote through along her reed thin Party line.

Since when does the jury get to decide if there will be witnesses? That should be the judge's call.
