Trumpf to call for 6 weeks of paid maternity leave.

Seems strange; this is more of the “free stuff” that Republicans once said they hated. It will be interesting to see how they react.

Trump to call for six weeks paid maternity leave

The plan's centerpiece has already been announced: rewriting the tax code to allow families to deduct childcare expenses. The campaign is fleshing out more details ahead of Trump's speech.

The total cost will be capped at the average child care costs in each state, while the highest-earning Americans — individuals making $250,000 per year or households with a combined $500,000 per year in income — won't be eligible.

Stay-at-home parents will also be eligible to take the deduction. The campaign framed the moves as a step toward creating an equal playing field for those who stay home to raise their children.

technically its expanding un-employment coverage to 6 weeks of maternity leave, not forcing a company to compensate someone at full salary for a time period.
who the hell do you think is going to pay for this piece of socialism?

Less tax revenue from some means more tax revenue from others….or more debt.

different part of the plan. What i stated about the maternity leave is correct.

What's so funny? Also, Candy left out the more obvious choice, cutting other government bullshit to fund this.
Where did he say this????????????????

I am not hiding it anywhere.

I think there are plenty of conversations that could be had that would allow people to consider how they might make this happen and NOT add extra load onto our already stupid debt.

I said a general fund and I didn't say whose....I have long advocated for personal Social Security accounts (not privatized..necessarily) that could be used for things like this, workman's comp, extended health care, etc.

It sure LOOKS like Trump is purposely looking for ways to bust the budget. I doubt he's gonna have a lot of advisers who nag him about debt --- when the King LIKES debt --- a lot.

Reforms to LOWER the outrageous prices of day care and dependent care are obvious to me. It's those leftists in NYCity that are paying half their salaries for those things. Because they live in a HIGHLY regulated state that requires certification for things that the facility might NEVER ENCOUNTER. (for example). OF COURSE, it's gonna be expensive if the day care is DESIGNED by leftists. Not so much a problem elsewhere's.

I'd go with that --- before laying in literally $BILLs into a market and inflate the prices BECAUSE of high subsidies.

Oh, I agree.

But that is what you've got looming out there......

I don't care who get's elected...we are at 20 Trillion and it ain't stopping.

Pretty soon that will be all that matters.

I agree about the highly regulated state.

People are going to have to get used to the idea of a little risk.

You want to get divorced...you're gonna face issues. You don't have a great paying job.....you are going to have more issues.

That's why I'm voting for folks that have a pedigree in fiscal conservancy.. You can get "all liberal and shit" when the government focuses on primary duties, isn't running a risk of default, and has all those agencies PRUNED and working efficiently.

Might take longer than it took Hercules to clean the stables --- but THEN --- you can put more entitlements on the table. Right NOW --- Trump is not really a BIG alternative to Hillary on tax and spend..

Which total fiscal conservative are you voting for POTUS in 2016?

I'm voting Libertarian of course --- and crossing my fingers that our brain reprogramming of Johnson./Weld makes them act libertarian.. :rolleyes-41: At least on fiscal issues. Which should be EASY for them..
So your answer to the two liberals running is to vote for the third liberal??? LMAO

Not saying that I agree with it, just pointing out the facts.

Trump's not a republican. And he knows there isn't a snowball's chance in hell of this passing congress, even it a bill was introduced, which he knows won't be introduced even if he's elected.

Not that pandering is unusual, but it's sort of pathetic that he's trying to poach women votes so disingenuously. But, insulting women isn't anything he is bothered by.
Dems will certainly pass it, its getting the douche bag Republican establishment to go along with it. Think of it this way if the Republicans shoot it down Trump will call them to the carpet and make them look like the idiots they are. That's what a Trump Presidency looks like....fuck with the American people the CIC will call you out for it no matter what letter is next to your name.

One last thing, you're wrong in saying he knows there's not a snowballs chance in hell of it getting passed. Trump doesn't just throw things out there. His ego is too big to let people/politicians stand in his way of the things he wants to get done.
The establishment will love this seeing they have been trying to pass something like it for a long time... No it will be conservatives who actually love their country who will block it.... Your boy is the establishment.

the money will come from the unemployment insurance. its not a salary but it wont break small businesses.

i suppose yould rather the money continue to sink into waste and fraud or
sneaked by the millions into iran.

do your research
Please do your... It is Businesses that pay that insurance and it is BROKE! How are you going to pay for something when there is NO MONEY TO PAY IT!!!!!!

Seems like the GOP is suddenly the party of “free shit”.
Benefits from having a job aren't "free shit", you have to work for them.

"Free shit" is when you don't have a job at all and collect welfare.
How the hell is getting paid for not working because you didn't use a condom any different? Why should I pay for you getting knocked up? Hey comrade I believe in INDIVIDUAL responsibility.

None of you have given a cogent reason as to why a person should get paid maternity leave.

If you want to get paid while you are out on maternity leave then plan for it. Save up your vacation time and you can get paid while you are out

you should have paid maternity leave because most people are two paychecks from homelessness and it's not easy taking care of a baby the first few weeks. plus, it's good for families, which is why most western countries provide it.
Then save your own damn money for it!

Any Democrats who opposes Trump's plan is establishing himself as a total hypocrite. This plan is good for young families who want to have children but can't afford it because of the astronomical costs of child care. Why shouldn't child care be tax-deductible, this should have been done years ago? This idea may encourage people to have children and boost the birth rate, which is now below replacement level, a long range disaster for any nation.
And that's probably the real reason politicians on the left and right turned a blind eye to illegal immigrants... we, as a Nation, are not having enough children....?
Then stop murdering the unborn.

This election, IMHO, is about the Supreme Court and nothing else really matters.

In that case, we'd be better off voting for Bugs Bunny. Clinton will nominate liberals. Trump will nominate any reckless moron he can buy cheap.

There are several options for you asinine statement. Out of respect for some of your opinions that I agree with, I choose uninformed. Here is what Trump proposes.

(New York, NY) May 18, 2016 - Today Donald J. Trump released the much-anticipated list of people he would consider as potential replacements for Justice Scalia at the United States Supreme Court. This list was compiled, first and foremost, based on constitutional principles, with input from highly respected conservatives and Republican Party leadership.

The link gives a description of each proposed Justice.
Now you just have to prove we can trust he will use this list for more then just show ......

I don't have to prove anything. I KNOW what type of Justices Hillary would appoint and HOPE that Trump would use the list he published.
That is a valid Point about Clinton but that doesn't mean I can trust Trump will be better because you and he said so.

Not sure, but I was commenting on Candy's lack of inclusion on cutting spending one place to pay for it in another.

Making it financially easier for women to have babies will solve much of that....

I am not ready to make that leap. Not voting Hillary is a given but not sure Trump will be any better.... I already know he is doing great harm to conservatism but at least he exposed the frauds like Hannity and Ingrim
