When an elected official does not like the coverage he or she is being given, AND is deadly afraid of what else the media may uncover, the only recourse is to revert to one's base and "warn" them that whatever they hear and WILL hear, should be labeled fake news.

And, of course, this is what Trump is attempting (although ineffectively) to do with his loyal but hapless base.

Last night's political rally by Trump in Tampa (did you notice that Scott wasn't even there???) did precisely that.......Trump warned his rabid base that whatever they will read or hear....regardless of the proof offered......should not be believed........Why???..........

Simple answer, reality and truth is NOT what is expected from a cult.....whose ONLY role is to honor and be loyal to the cult leader.....

We'll soon see if the kool-aid or reality is more powerful.

Fire patrols pre-emptive strike against a building that has been burning the past two hours...

I gotta say the MSM spent much of 2016 predicting Trump's fall. Trump has personalized it even more than Nixon did, and Trump is a demagogue because his appeal is emotional and bigoted and he uses power for his own benefit. but it's not a one way street.

I only see bits and pieces of the Lame Stream Media news coverage. A few minutes before Jeopardy comes on at 7 p.m., get a daily 90 second jolt of Extremist Pablum from Lester Holt.

But its apparent even from that small dose of poison, that the Left has lost its marbles completely.

The President isn't telling his people anything they don't know.

No, it is not a one-way street, but a demagogic President who is willing to burn the house down in his own defense is a far greater threat than are his opponents.

I'm betting the Kool-Aid comes out on top with these bootlickers.

Which would then make Trump a fucking liar.....and his "cult" membership a bunch of uneducated followers and ass kissers.

It would have been bad with Hillary too. Perhaps not internationally but hatred in the press.

Ironically, McConnell traded two Justices and the federal bench for a generation in exchange for blowing up the debt way past our greatest fears. And Russia in in the WH.

James Fenimore Cooper in 1838 identified four fundamental characteristics of demagogues:[3][6]
  1. They fashion themselves as a man or woman of the common people, opposed to the elites.
  2. Their politics depends on a visceral connection with the people, which greatly exceeds ordinary political popularity.
  3. They manipulate this connection, and the raging popularity it affords, for their own benefit and ambition.
  4. They threaten or outright break established rules of conduct, institutions, and even the law.

The central feature of the practice of demagoguery is persuasion by means of passion, shutting down reasoned deliberation and consideration of alternatives. Demagogues "pander to passion, prejudice, bigotry, and ignorance, rather than reason."[4] See below for a survey of the methods of persuasion used by most demagogues throughout history. Demagogue - Wikipedia

Trump's appeal to his base is to tell them their prejudices and ignorance is good.

"A few minutes before Jeopardy comes on at 7 pm, get a daily 90 second jolt of Extremist Pablum from Lester Holt".

The above statement proves that you don't watch NBC Nightly News, because if you did, you would know that the last segment of the news is a story about people doing good things for others. Usually someone gives someone something, a cop helps out some homeless people, feel good stories to help you feel better after listening to all the other news.

It's not a 90 second jolt of extremist pablum as you claim.

For nearly three years the lame stream media has been lying about Trump and his supporters and they will never stop because the media has adopted Socialism as their preferred form of Government. But in order to achieve their goal they have to demonize everyone right of center. And when the narrative isn't supported by facts they inject innuendo, conspiracy theories, and character assassination.

Trump wasn't saying anything the people don't already know. You just can't stand him reminding everyone how corrupt the media has become.

Oh, and Hillarious still isn't Queen. And she will never be. Thought I'd throw that in just to make your day.

One of the more interesting parts of your link is the part about Jade Helm. I remember a whole bunch of conservatives screaming in fear on this board about the exercise, thinking it was a government takeover. In your link, it says that the Russians saw the homegrown fear that was developing over Jade Helm, and then they helped to spread it with their bots.

No wonder conservatives are so supportive of Russia now. Their memes told them it was the way to go.

Pay attention, flakey. Comey already stated there was no evidence Russia's attempts to interfere in the election changed any votes. And that was in a Congressional hearing under oath. Now when this Watts loser swears under oath and presents evidence proving his allegations we can revisit the subject.

Now tell me I should be surprised some other corrupt FBI agent wants to lie about the election.

Ricky, my man, listen up: you are wrong. That is not what Comey said, you are twisting what he said. End of story.

Trump is providing oversight to the Intelligence Community, and they don't like it. Senator Chuck U. Schumer warned President Trump about the vengeance of these folks back a few weeks before Trump was anointed as President.

“Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,”- Schumer

Define "soon". A week? A month? 6 months? What?
