Wouldn't surprise me at all.

But why would the US Postal Service feel a need to not publicly give out how much ammo it is trying to buy? Why the secrecy? Is the amount outrageous like in so many other government purchases? Don't the US people have a right to know what it's government is doing?

Overall, this is just another turn for the clandestine by an Obama Regime that increasingly sees its own people as its greatest threat.

Postal Inspectors are actual federal law enforcement agents and they don't mess around.
They carry badges, handcuffs, and weapons. They can arrest you just like a policeman or FBI agent can.

They deal with drug/contraband transport, child porn, mail fraud, robberies, murder and more.
