Univ of Louisville "Core Values" #5: NO GUNS; Agree/Disagree?

I suppose almost winning the lottery counts in your book.

Almost doesn't count.

Most people learn that before they enter kindergarten.

Cop will pull you over if you ALMOST run over someone.

If you shoot at someone and ALMOST hit them, they will arrest you for assault with a deadly weapon.

ALMOST killing someone shows the problem with throwing more guns into a chaotic situation. It will never have good results.

So the guy never fired his gun but he almost killed someone.

Got it.

And the cop will pull you over for reckless driving no one ever got convicted for almost doing anything.

It's fun to watch yourself twist into a pretzel.

Point was, citizen with a gun did nothing to make that situation better and almost made it a hell of a lot worse. Imagine if he DID shoot the bystander who wrestled the gun out of Loughner's hand.

So a neutral outcome of not making it better or worse is a bad thing now?

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

We don't know WHERE they got them yet.

But the point that they were in a place where these kids could get them is telling enough.
I know where they didn't get the gun. That's a fact. But you said they got it from the gun store, SO TELL ANOTHER LIE.

That gun was AT A GUN STORE at some point between leaving the factory and getting into this kid's hand.

So either he -

Bought it.
Got it from someone else who bought it.
Stole it from a gun store.

If we didn't sell guns in this country, guess what, he wouldn't have had a gun.

Holy shit dumb fuck, they did not get the gun from the gun store. You said they did.

And the fact is, Loughner was able to buy a gun. Even though everyone in his life knew he was batshit crazy, even though he was so nuts they banned him from his community college.

But he was able to walk into a gun store and buy a gun, anyway.

And no citizen with a gun was able to stop him from killing six and wounding a dozen.

You don't know that.

But it is logical to conclude that these guns were at gun stores at SOME point in their lives.

Idiot they did not get the gun from the gun store. Unlike you I know gun dealers they aren't going to sell a gun to some teenage thugs and take a chance and lose their license and go to jail. That just isn't going to happen. Stop suggesting that it did.

So, as FB season grows closer, I get so excited, and was watching ESPNU today and "College Football Live". They were at the University of Louisville. The Cardinals are ranked preseason top 10, and are seen by many as a possible National Championship contender. Their head coach, Charlie Strong, is as classy and respected of a man as you could ever ask for.

If you go back and watch the show, they have a poster hanging in their team meeting rooms, it reads "CORE VALUES" of the team. They were:

1- Honesty
2- Respect to others
3- No stealing
4- No drugs
5- No guns

Now, U of L is a PUBLIC school. Aka, a government school.

How do you feel about this? A public school, with a public govt employee, encouraging as a "Core value" into 100 young people on government scholarship "no guns"?

Why focus on number 5 ??? All are important...all are reasonable...all are honorable...all infer that you will focus on the reason you are there in the first place.

Gun Dealers are the problem. They are out to make a profit with no concern to the damage their product does.

Simple enough solution. Hold Gun Shops financially responsible for gun deaths and injuries.

Bet they will care where their guns end up then.

Why don't you try to buy a handgun without a permit at any gun shop in your area and then tell us how many you were able to buy.

Then send an underage kid into those same shops and see if he'll be sold a weapon of any kind.

Let us know.

only idiots place the blame on others and not the offender.

Or we just hold people responsible.

YOu know what, I'm even going to concede, 90% of gun shops are probably doing it the right way...

And then you have the 10% who sell to people they know aer gun traffickers.

And the ATF doesn't have enough manpower to tell them apart.

If you don't have core values before you ever attend a University, you are a pathetic individual to begin with.

People who know who they are as a person has no need to even worry about this kind of nonsense.

It does speak volumes about the University, however, when they rank owning a gun up there with theft.

Parents might want to know how screwed up this University happens to be.
