In 2013 and 2014, the states where the most number of out-of-state crime guns originated were Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Georgia. The state with the most number of guns per 100,000 people was, indeed, Vermont.

But 1 percent of crime guns whose sources were identified in 2014 originated from Vermont: 55 of 4,585.

The whole thing is idiotic. Since most guns are produced somewhere other than NY of course most guns used in crimes will come from somewhere else.
But if the implication were true, New York's laws would reduce crime if everyone else had the same restrictive laws, then you would expect those places where the guns are coming from, like VT, to have higher rates of crime than NY. But they dont. They have lower rates. Esp VT.

There is something more dangerous than Clinton's "lie" in her statement. It is the implication the tough gun control laws of New York are ineffective when the surrounding states have lax laws. Clinton is clearly of the mind federal law needs to be as tough as New York's gun control laws.

No gun dealers are contributing to gunviolence in NY. Where does anyone get that idea?
