Here you see it. How people in Mexico make this drug---and the profits derived. So, how do we stop this. You could close the border tomorrow...and the fentanyl supply would hardly be touched. How many here in the US are quietly doing this, as we speak?
Longish article, well worth reading, IMO.

At the tap of a buyer’s smartphone, Chinese chemical sellers will air-ship fentanyl ingredients door-to-door to North America. Reuters purchased enough to make 3 million pills. Such deals are astonishingly easy – and reveal how drug traffickers are eluding efforts to halt the deadly trade behind the fentanyl crisis.
The core precursors Reuters bought would have yielded enough fentanyl powder to make at least 3 million tablets, with a potential street value of $3 million – a conservative estimate based on prices cited by U.S. law enforcement agencies in published reports over the past six months.
The total cost of the chemicals and equipment Reuters purchased, paid mainly in Bitcoin: $3,607.18.
“We can ship safely to Mexico,” Jenny had written in Spanish on the encrypted message platform Telegram in July 2023, when the reporter first inquired about the chemical. “No one knows what we ship.”

Transactions like this are part of the biggest upheaval in the global narcotics trade since the war on drugs began half a century ago. The manufacturing of fentanyl, the synthetic opioid that’s killing tens of thousands of Americans a year, has become an endlessly inventive and ruthlessly efficient global industry.

The trade hinges on chemicals known as “precursors,” which are the drug’s essential ingredients. Compounds called piperidines are the core of fentanyl’s structure. Other precursors provide the remaining building blocks. Combined through chemical reactions, these precursors create a drug 50 times stronger than heroin.

The problem for regulators: Many of the same chemicals used to make fentanyl are also crucial to legitimate industries, from perfumes and pharmaceuticals to rubber and dyes. Tightly restricting all of them would upend global commerce. And because of fentanyl’s potency, even small quantities of these precursors can produce vast numbers of tiny pills using a simple manufacturing process – rendering the ingredients, the final product and the supply chain easy to conceal from authorities.

Anyone with a mailbox, an internet connection and digital currency to pay the tab can source these chemicals, a Reuters investigation found.

This is great from a Capitalism standpoint. Imagine how cheap gas would be if everyone could make it themselves.

When anyone with $4k and a recipe can make a lifetime's supply..not sure if that's the answer either.
There is more than just Fent flowing across the border

As it stands now, about 300 people a day die from inaction from the Biden administration

Is this acceptable in your mind?

Not addressing the political bs of the moment. This thread really is not about the border at all...as there appears to be no impediment to anyone sourcing the ingredients and making their own batch.

Junkies die..it is their destiny~

People in the US are making and distributing and using

DALLAS, TX - A fentanyl dealer who admitted he was involved in at least three overdoses, two of them fatal, was sentenced Thursday to nearly 23 years in federal prison.

Rhett Barclay, 23, was indicted in September 2023 and pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. He was sentenced Thursday to 275 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman.

Political BS? If we listened to you, you would have us believe that the issue is people making drugs at home.

Did they put the drug cartels out of business? Why is China funding sending fentanyl over the border if that is the case?

You people are an absolute joke. You are so delusional; you can't even bring yourself to admit Biden is infirm and needs to resign yesterday!!!

Passing the torch to a new generation?

I don't think so. You people are so scared of the abilities of Kamala, you think Biden is better able to lead even with dementia.

In fact, I bet you can't even admit Biden is infirm, even though you admit he needs to not run in 2024.

What a bunch of loons!!

The solution to America's Fentanyl problem:
Americans stop using Fentanyl.

The problem is far bigger. In order to cover up either their failure to stop opiod trafficking (or to profit from it), instead, the government has resorted to withholding normal, legal opioids from actual, medically-justified patients who need the stuff to sell the idea that they are actually combatting the illegal trafficking of it.
