Wendy's Supports Chick-Fil-A

Of course they are.. The last thing big corporations want is for the peasants to realize THEY have the power of their patronage to control their behavior.

That falls contradictory to the millions corporations spend to foster patronage and establish value distinctions to garner market share.

Wow, the point went right over your head, didn't it?

Not so much. You contend that corps dont want "peasants" to realize they have the power to patronize, yet they spend millions playing and influencing that power.

Free speech is one thing, but sometimes it can cross a line.

And precisely who is to determine precisely when that line is crossed?

.

If enough outrage is caused, then a line has probably been crossed.

And precisely who is going to determine when "enough" outrage has been caused?

And precisely who is going to determine what the penalty will be?

And precisely who is going to write the rules?

Freedom of expression points out the nutcases, loud and clear. It tells us what they're thinking, and who agrees with them. That's the beauty of our First Amendment. Shutting people up accomplishes nothing. The only reason people want to shut others up is they're afraid too many other people will agree with them. Too bad. That's what public debate is for, winning the contest of ideas.

If the gay rights movement thinks that trying to shut down a freaking fast food restaurant and kissing in front of its franchises is a smart move in the big picture, fine. Let's see how that works out.

NO, what you don't realize, is that the patronage is power.

If people say to a franchise "You're behavior is unacceptable and we aren't going to tolerate it, no matter how many toys you offer our kids in their happy meals", then the coporations either have to change their behavior or go out of business.

And that's what keeps these assholes up at night.

People said that to Chick-fil-a and none of that happened ?

I think it's a little early here. Are the Bubbas going to keep eating there a year from now? A month?

Long Term, CFA is in trouble and they know it. There's only so much chicken the haters can chow down on.

It is going to take a year for them to realize they do support squashing free speech and support the hand of government against citizens for expressing thier religious beliefs ?

Actually, CFA will quietly back down, and Cathy will find it prudent to "retire".

You do realize you haters are on the wrong side of history. Just looking at where gays were 30 years ago and where they are now can tell you that.

Tea leaves, tarot cards or crystal ball ?

Historical study of past corporate behavior.

The ironic thing is that CFA probably didn't want this kind of publicity. Cathy has been saying this kind of dumb bullshit and supporting hate causes for years under the radar. But then Mike Huckabee decided he needed a cause to get people to listen to his radio show.

Now his brand has been recast as 'Eat my chicken if you hate the gheys"...

We don't have a Hate-fil-A around here so I can't actively boycott.

However, we do have a Wendy's. Let the partitioning of America continue!

Wouldn't you supporting your local bath house be more of a positive gesture?

I am curious as to why you equate opposition to changing the definition of marriage to hate. And why you think anyone should give your moral opinion any worth at all. Your religion sounds very hateful. A religion of projection it seems to me.

Fifty years ago, the definition of marriage was that white people could only marry white people and black people could only marry black people. Some people even used religion to justify this position. today, we see that as ridiculous.

Fifty years ago, homosexuality was classified as a mental disorder, they had no protection in job or housing discrimination, they could be banned from the military, they were routinely arrested. One by one, those things were struck down because other than the irrational hatred of religious people, there was no good reason for it.

So now all you guys are left with is "Oh, gee, we'll let you guys have civil unions, but don't call it marriage because you'll make Baby Jay-a-zus cry!"

In another 20 years, gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states, and the churches screaming about it now will try to pretend they had nothing to do with it.

Will you try to do it legally via Congressional action or just continue to use force and selectively use the weight of local government toward anyone who doesnt agree with you ?

Just to give you one example..

Komen Foundation VP resigns, blasts Planned Parenthood - CNN

Karen Handel, a vice president with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation who resigned Tuesday after a controversy over funding for Planned Parenthood projects, blasted the organization and defended her role in the debate.

Komen's founder and CEO, Nancy Brinker, said in a statement she had accepted Handel's resignation and acknowledged, "we have made mistakes in how we handled recent decisions."

Handel, the foundation's senior vice president for policy, opposes abortion. She was the driving force behind the foundation's decision not to renew parts of its longstanding partnership with Planned Parenthood, the Huffington Post reported earlier this week after reviewing internal e-mails at the foundation. Planned Parenthood operates hundreds of family clinics where abortions are performed.
