WH responds to Cheney

It's a figure of Speech made popular by the Republican's 08 Presidential Candidate :cuckoo:.

How would Obama listening to Cheney spread falsehood's about him and his Presidency further our progress in the two war's??..:eusa_hand:

My goodness someone is filling your head full of BS and not teaching you any respect at the same time. they must multitask. I do not believe that Mr Cheney has "spread falsehood" about the way Mr Obama is acting. he is treating much of this war on terror as a police action. He is attempting to end both wars as fast as possible while saving face. This is not necessarily the best thing for the country. In fact i can't think of anything good he has done for the country. You haven't earned the right to call me nutz kid.

Um..I attempted respect at calling you "Friend" but you in turn said you were no friend of mine..Who has no respect?..Mr. Dick HAS spread many, many lies about Obama..Even when they are debunked he doesn't have the decincy to retract his IDIOTIC comments. Obama is trying to tell A-stan's govt. what they have needed to be told all along- 'We aren't gonna be here forever, Get your act Straight!'. Obama did enough good by bringing us out of the Bush Error!

Lol, Didn't know 'Right to call people nutz' was handed out around here...where can I pick that up BTW?

Name one lie?

That Bush "error" kept this country safe for seven years.

And year Obama is bringing us into it, and his naivete and recklessness is going to cost this country dealry.

He DOESN'T mention it nearly as much as I would if were holding that office.

Link? (To proof he mentions the bush administrations every day)

Yes, Are you physically able of talking about Obama without discussing Hitler or other thing's right wingers seemed to be hung on these days?

Like I said....your indoctrinated well. All we hear is Booosh, and the last adminstration. You can't deny that...like I said at some point obama needs to stop blaming and take responsiblity, until that time Cheney has every right to point to obama's shortcomings...he has a lot of them. Right now the number one is obama's pre 9-11-2001 mentality. What a fucking fool he is.

Here is an example of Cheney Fairness:

"We are at war, and when President Obama pretends we aren’t."-- On Obama's Handling of the Underwear Bomber

He is absolutely right. Obama said terrorism shouldn't even be called terrorism but man made disasters.

He is changing the handling of terrorism back to a law enforcement issue instead of a war.

For Cheney :clap2:

I am not your friend, I am old enough to be your grandfather. And if Mr Obama had any sense he would listen to everyone who has been involved in this War on Terror because he needs all the help he can get. You have no clue what idiotic is.

It's a figure of Speech made popular by the Republican's 08 Presidential Candidate :cuckoo:.

Cheney isn't spreading falsehoods. He is giving a warning what will happen to this country, if Obama doesn't wake up.

The Emperor has not clothes.

Too bad someone didn't wake up the Cheney/Bush administration before 9/11.

Right on target.

The problem is that Obama's naivete and recklessness is making the US unsafe and even more vulnerable to successful terrorist attacks.

Well, I think most of the people that voted for Obama became hysterically irrational--cheering on--Eric Holder when he declared that water boarding was torture. Obama then went on his world-wide apology tour--& declared to terrorists around the world that basically they would not be water-boarded--if caught.

So what happened next? We had a radical muslim major in the U.S. army that murdered unarmed soldiers & wounded doesn's more--(in this country). They knew he was on radical web-sites before the murders & did nothing. Then we had some guy that lived in Denver--who was in a conspiracy for bomb making--with another in New York--that was caught early--thankfully--& now we have the Christmas day incident--where all security broke down--& lets face it--if this bomb would have worked correctly--it would have killed hundreds of innocents on that plane.

So since Obama & Eric Holder have been in office--we have had one sucessful terrorist attack & two other attempts. Needless to add that this President took 72 hours before he addressed the Christmas day attempt--& referred to it as an "isolated" incident. I don't think this spells for a good record for this administration--in his primary duty of protecting American citizens against--humans running around tyring to inflict man made disasters--:lol:

Remind us how many died on 9/11, Oreo, and under who's watch.

Guess which president helped terrorists by making it illegal for US intelligence agencies to get information from bad guys? You guessed it Clinton.

Guess what is needed to stop terrorist attacks? Intelligence. The problem is that intelligence and democrats is an oxymoron.

“It was pretty clear during the Clinton era that they heard our reports but just didn’t care,” said former Rep. Bill McCollum (R-Fla.).

McCollum founded and chaired the Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare from 1989 to 1995. The panel produced a number of sensitive reports that were selectively distributed within the congressional leadership and intelligence community. He is now seeking the Republican Senate nomination in a highly contested primary campaign.

At The Hill’s request, McCollum released several of these reports. Although unclassified, many of them have never before been revealed. They identify the threat of global terrorism well before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Culled from open sources, such as Middle Eastern radio and newspaper reports, and from the network of informants the task force nurtured, the reports describe the anti-Western goals of radical Islam around the globe.

On Feb 1, 1993, for example, a report noted a recent spate of seemingly unconnected terrorist acts in the Middle East. “Despite the different circumstances of these incidents, they do not appear to be isolated events,” it concluded. “Rather, they are the first incidents in the escalation of an Islamist Jihad against the ‘Judeo-Christian world order.’ Thus, the climax of this struggle could well be an increase in terrorism throughout the West.”

Less than a month later, on Feb. 26, the World Trade Center was first bombed.

The same report identified key players in an increasingly interconnected terror network who would subsequently become public enemies in America’s national security efforts.

Among them was fundamentalist Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, head of the terrorist Islamic Group. The blind Egyptian cleric was convicted for plotting the initial World Trade Center attack.

Another prominent leader was Ayman Al-Zawahiri, a top lieutenant of Osama bin Laden’s and Al Qaeda’s. Zawahiri was indicted for his alleged involvement in the Aug. 7, 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya and is listed on the FBI’s “Most Wanted Terrorists” list. In task force reports, the Sudanese is listed as a principal organizer who brought the disparate terrorist groups together into an umbrella jihad structure.

Most importantly, McCollum’s task force repeatedly warned the Clinton administration of the spread of terrorism from Iranian Shiite groups to those of Sunni Muslims, and their collaboration in plotting attacks against the West. The panel prepared a comprehensive list, ranging from Middle East to Asia to the Horn of Africa.

While much of this is now considered conventional wisdom, the task force’s conclusions were not widely viewed that way at the time. The U.S. intelligence community generally saw the terrorism threat in terms of isolated acts that were confined to regional players.

“McCollum was way ahead of the curve,” said anti-terrorism expert Steve Emerson of the Investigative Project. “By and large, there was no recognition or effort to look at this problem in the global sense or the interconnectedness among these groups.”

Emerson, like McCollum, was among the handful of outsiders who cautioned the government early on about terrorist threats. Their warnings, they say, were largely viewed as those of gadflies and partisans.

“I don’t know if it was pride or if it was the sense that we were the upstart outsider, or that we were viewed as partisans, or what,” said McCollum. “I imagine they looked down on us…. I imagine we were viewed as a rogue outfit producing this.

“It was frustrating,” McCollum continued. “We didn’t feel that people were paying attention. A lot of them were of the thinking that none of this would ever amount to much and that it certainly didn’t pose a threat to America.”

“They couldn’t care less. There were people within the intelligence communities who were alarmed, but not institutionally,” said Yossef Bodansky, a former staffer for the task force and recent author of a bin Laden biography. “Neither us nor they could make enough nose to attract the attention of the White House.”

While the task force’s work spanned both the elder Bush and Clinton administrations, McCollum saved his harshest criticism for the latter period.

“I think it became increasingly frustrating under Clinton because some of these things were compounding and becoming ever more obvious,” McCollum said. “It became pretty clear during the Clinton era that they heard our stuff but they just didn’t care.”

“They didn’t want to know before the World Trade Center; they didn’t want to know after the World Trade Center,” said Bodansky. “They were just simplistic; they just didn’t want to know that the problem existed. Terrorism didn’t exist, and all the problems didn’t exist. It was just an ostrich attitude.”

Elected to the House in 1980, McCollum early on took an active interest in supporting anti-Communist movements. Based on his humanitarian work for El Salvador, in 1985 the U.S. Agency for International Development requested that he develop an aid program for Pakistan. In doing so, McCollum cultivated a network of key players in the mujahadin resistance who passed on reports of coordination among anti-Western elements in the region. In 1989, he created and chaired the terrorism task force, relinquishing that post when he was named to the House intelligence committee in 1995.

Interesting....

The same people blaming Evil Booooooooosh for 9/11 happening less than a year into his watch want us to ignore the 1st year of Barry's reign....:eusa_think:

Perhaps they are pointing out that even though the terrorist are becoming more skilled and guileful in their approachs, the losses have been far, far less than under Bush.

Too bad someone didn't wake up the Cheney/Bush administration before 9/11.

Too bad the Clinton administration tore down the intell that Reagan had in place so Bush/Cheney could have had a grasp before 9-11. Bush was in the process of beefing up intell, but that takes time, Clean.

The difference is that Bill Clinton screwed up our fight against terorism.

He:

1) Made it illegal to get intelligence from bad guys. Bad guys are the ones who would have critical intelligence

2) He replied to terrorism with impotent responses, i.e. sending cruise missiles to empy tents

3) He didn't take terrorism seriously

Pres. Bush turned it around. He fought an aggresive war against terrorism, and, as a result, kept the country safe for 7 years.

All that Obama had to do was keep doing what Pres. Bush already implemented. Instead, he has been dismantelling it, and we have had 3 terrorist attacks in one year.

To sum up, Pres. Bush had to implement a comprehensive war against terrorism, because his predecessor was an idiot. Obama, instead of continuing it, had been tearing it down, AND that is the problem.

Perhaps they are pointing out that even though the terrorist are becoming more skilled and guileful in their approachs, the losses have been far, far less than under Bush.

Hey, give it time, I have great faith that Obama will continue to fuck it up.

-Crickets--On Bush's handling of Richard Reid (Shoe Bomber).

Cheney is quick to point out Obama's "Shortcomings" but doesnt hold the same standard for Rethuglicans

Have you gone back to when you were 7 years old and studied the accounts of Richard Reid? His lame attempt was only 3 months after the attacks on 9-11-01, we (and President Bush) were just starting the war on terror. The procedures used up until Christmas of 2009 were not yet in place. Yes this does make a difference. Obama has whined about the previous administration for nearly a year. And while we're on the subjecthis first executive order is a failure. Gitmo is still open, and I pray it will stay open.

Bush didn't even talk to the media til' 6 day's later! Then Obama get's blasted for waiting 3 hours.

Your Praying??? I'm sure God is gonna hear that prayer..He love's torture! :cuckoo:

Pres. Bush gave a speech the evening of Sept. 11. Also Obama didn't wait 3 hours, he waited 3 days.

I guess they don't teach how to tell time in school's these days.

Text of Bush's address
September 11, 2001 Posted: 11:14 PM EDT (0314 GMT)

(CNN) -- The text of President Bush's address Tuesday night, after terrorist attacks on New York and Washington:

Good evening.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts.

The victims were in airplanes or in their offices -- secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers. Moms and dads. Friends and neighbors.

Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger.

These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation.

Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature, and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C., to help with local rescue efforts.

Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.

The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow.

Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well.

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources for our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world and we stand together to win the war against terrorism.

Tonight I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a power greater than any of us spoken through the ages in Psalm 23: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time.

None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night and God bless America.

I'll never forget this.

This will be ingrained in my brain forever.

And DAMN Pres. Bush made good on his promise.

I was referring to his response to the SHOE BOMBER, If the Underwear guy had succeded I'm sure Obama would have given a Nice, heart warming speech like the one above

Nice try.

The difference is the shoe bomber incident occurred only three months after 911.

Pres. Bush already stated in detail what he was going to do to fight terrorism and was implementing it.

What more should he have said or done?

On the other hand, with the NWA bombing, Obama just went on his merry way, continuing jet setting in Hawaii, without saying anything for three days.

So far his only policy toward terrorism has been surrender.
