What are the options for those like me?

Are you an idiot? Trump isn't taking any cut. His companies will continue to exist and generate revenue for him when he's not bankrupting them.

Trump is in it for the power. He's a repulsive megalomaniac. Is he better than Hitlery Clinton? Of course. She's an equally power-hungry megalomaniac. But at least Trump is composed and semi-rational while Hitlery is an irrational lunatic.

But....in the end....that's like saying Adolf Hitler is better than Saddam Hussein because he didn't pull German women off the streets and brutal rape them. Both are an awful choice.

so essentially, you hate Hillary so much that you are willing to elect a guy you compare to Hitler?

If Hillary gets in, I would expect the Senate would do with her nominees what they are doing with Obama's nominee. The most likely retirees over the next 4 years are Ginsberg 83, Kennedy 79, and Breyer, 77 all left leaning judges. If any one of these retire and the Senate does nothing, the court becomes more conservative. Senate Republicans are far more interested in a conservative leaning court than they are fully staffed court.

Absolutely we are.
So, if Hillary is elected and Republicans continue to control the Senate which they probably will, the Senate can refuse all of Hillary's Supreme Court nominations replacing any of the 3 left leaning judges that retire. So even with Hillary as president, you could still have a conservative leaning court. If Trump is elected, he will nominate people most likely to approve of his policies which are certainly not conservative. I certainly wouldn't expect a strong conservative nominee from Trump.

Back in the 60's Trump would have been the answer to the radical left and the uncertain right 's political future but alas the radical left morphed into the establishment left wing socialists and the uncertain right morphed into the ....uncertain right. Trump is taking a cut in salary to become president so he ain't in it to pad his wallet.
Yes, just as Dick Cheney took a cut to "not pad his wallet" Unfortunately, a business man in power makes sure his wallet is padded, even if it means bringing our country to war. Why would Trump, as a pretty damn good businessman himself and who has repeatedly shown in the past to try to use political means to meet his business ends...do any different?

The stall tactic can only work so long. Eventually they have to give in no matter what. Even if Hillary picks the most leftist of leftist judges, the media will be reminding people how long they stalled because Obama was President when the vacancy opened up.

As for Trump, he already provided a list of potential nominees he will pick. While I don't know these people from Adam, I do know that he had a lot of help from the Heritage Foundation with his picks and conservative radio hosts (who probably do know these people) were praising his choices on that list.

Supreme Court seats have remained unfilled for years and it would not surprise me if McConnell did this with Clinton. Although Clinton would never nominate a strong conservative like Scalia, a Republican senate could certainly get a middle of road nominee out of Clinton if they held out.

That list will be meaningless in a year or so from now. Trump will choose who he wants. I would expect Trump to use nominees as political pawns to get legislation through the Senate.

It may be but I doubt it. I think Trump will stick to those on the list. After all, it's not like he's an expert on picking SC justices. But even if he doesn't pick a true conservative, whoever he picks will be better than what Hillary would choose.

The Republicans wouldn't even stand their ground in fear of a government shutdown. I seriously doubt they will try to hold off forever on a SC appointment. Even they know when they are beat.

Oh, right, because the only financial benefit to being President is the princely salary. That's why the Clintons left office far wealthier than they were when they entered, even after all their legal fees.

Mind you, I think Donald Trump is primarily in this for the boost to his already-massive ego. However, there are all manner of financially lucrative "unofficial perks" that go with the job. For starters, there's the networking and contacts to be made with people who are eager to do favors for anyone with that much power, people who are in a position to provide stock tips, sweetheart business and real estate deals, generous speaker fees for speeches, cushy jobs for relatives and friends . . . The law prohibits virtually all of this while the person is in office, but says nothing about any of these things after their term is finished. I can think of any number of ways that a stint as President would increase the market value of Trump's "brand" after he retires from public office, and his "brand" constitutes the largest part of his alleged wealth, after his real estate holdings (of which his NYC holdings appear to be the actual money generators).

Hillary is so corrupt she can't be trusted to run my household budget let alone the country.
Trump is only in it for his own entertainment & possibly his wallet.

Where do I go? Third party is a dead end. Do I just pack my bags & go home so to speak? Cross my fingers & hope our economy survives the next 4 years?

I truly have no idea where to focus my attention. Up to this point I have focused on anti Trump shit in a desperate attempt to see a change at our convention to see help for the down ballets but I'm beginning to see that is a lost cause too. Plus it's making me hated here by both sides rather than just one.

I'm voting for Trump, he can't be worse than hillary and he pisses the language nazis off, I love that part the most

I don't know, judging from the prosperity of the Clintons, I suspect a booming economic period for the Trump businesses if Trump is elected president

Do you think he might be able to turn 10,000 into a 100,000 in cattle futures? Or become dead broke in the WH only to leave and become a millionaire in a matter of months?

Do you really think the offers won't be made?

He will have heads of states worldwide staying in Trump hotels and golfing on Trump golf courses. Instead of bribing trump directly, they can simply gamble away a 100 million at a Trump casino and lose on purpose.

As I understand it, there is only one "Trump Casino" any more. All the others went bankrupt and closed. And the remaining one, Trump Taj Mahal, is actually owned by someone else's company, and Trump owns very little stock in it, if he owns any at all at this point.

My plan is to start drinking after the election is called one way or the other and not stop for at least 4 years.

Right there with you. I may want to just buy stock in Four Peaks Brewery at this point.

How about figuring out exactly what you think and stand up and speak as loudly as you can about those issues. I think most of your Founding Fathers apparently thought if you didn't defend your rights you didn't deserve them. They came for the Mexicans, they came for the Muslims, they came for labor, they came for Judges who wore one of the "other" badges, blah, blah, blah....This is a particularly bad time for a failure of will, "the time that tries men's souls" Thomas Paine was the best selling author in the World in 1776. He wasn't fond of "Summer Soldiers".
I've don't that for months now. The only change has been to the level of respect I receive. The country has lost its collective marbles.

Well, the answer to THAT is to do what I do: Don't give a furry rat's ass what other people think.

Ask yourself, "In two years, what vote is my conscience going to be most comfortable with having cast? What will I be least ashamed of?" and then do that.

I'm afraid there's really not an answer that involves any sort of organized, cohesive plan among the group of people repulsed by both candidates equally. It's pretty much every man for himself at this point, just you and whatever your conscience requires to let you sleep at night.

I said it repeatedly in USMB: the most important consideration in voting for a candidate is who they will pick for the Supreme Court. That's it in a nutshell.

Whether you pick Trump or Clinton, either has a challenge ahead of them with Congress and Senate. And even if they do things you don't like with the Congresses help, you can vote them out next election.

But Supreme Court justices are there until they retire or die. What they decide the Constitution says will last for generations. And when they make those decisions, it doesn't matter who the President is.

So to help in your decision making, ask yourself who will pick the proper SC justices that will decide on our laws in this land. We don't know who Trump will actually nominate although he's brought up some names. But we do know what kind of justices Hillary will put in that court. And those nominations will likely support the disarming of law abiding citizens, the promotion of socialism, and the advancement of big government in our lives.
Hillary Clinton ‘loves’ the idea of appointing Obama to Supreme Court
That's a pretty good idea! He's already the best president in 50 years - he can become the greatest Justice, also!

:puke3: So glad we got a projectile-vomiting icon for just such an occasion.

You have to look at the most important thing that will come from this election, that will affect the country long after the next president is a footnote in history. Who do you want to make the next 2-4 supreme court nominations? The list Trump put together contain some damned fine people, or would you prefer more Kagan and Sotomayor clones. Who makes the picks will affect the country for possibly a hundred years or more.

If I thought for a second that Trump could be trusted to actually pick off that list, that might matter. Unfortunately, immediately after releasing that list, he backpedaled on it and said, basically, "Or, you know, whoever. It'll be great, that's all you need to know." So really, I'm exactly where I was before his list vis a vis Trump's potential SC picks: whichever person happens to tickle his fancy at that particular moment, could be anyone.

I feel the pain over this year's election. My plan comes down to offsetting the wife's vote. Don't blame us.

I think my estranged husband is planning to vote for Trump. I may have to upgrade from "separated" to "fucking DIVORCED, damn it!"

That why we have a senate, isn't it? I know what we'll get with the hildabitch, so at this time, the unknown is better.

Not being an expert is no reason why Trump should take the advise of the Heritage Foundation. Trump's not an expert at anything president's do and he certainly isn't going to take the advise of experts because he doesn't trust them.

"You know, I’ve always wanted to say this—I’ve never said this before with all the talking we all do—all of these experts, 'Oh we need an expert—' The experts are terrible," he declared. "Look at the mess we’re in with all these experts that we have. Look at the mess. Look at the Middle East. If our presidents and our politicians went on vacation for 365 days a year and went to the beach, we’d be in much better shape right now in the Middle East.”

It's amazing to see how different him and his wife get viewed, while you know they are very much on the same page.

Bill Clinton is a natural campaigner and he loves it. Hillary isn't that good at it and hates. Bill Clinton is more pragmatic and mainstream in his political views. He tends to follow popular sentiment with only a nudge in the direction of ideology. However Hillary takes ideological stands and fights for major changes. They really are quite different. Neither is really that far to left, less so than Obama and most Democrats.

Vote third party and keep doing your own personal campaigning for your chosen 3rd party candidate. Or you could join the campaign and do some volunteer campaigning for your candidate. You can send emails to your family and friends and post things about your candidate on FB or Twitter.
