BrianH, do you have cognitive disabilities we don't know about? I am not being mean to you, I truly don't think your mind works logically. Help me understand. Your two examples (1) underline the issue of slavery, and (2) the disconnect the Founders generally had with the idea of slaves being equal to nonslaves.
You do realize that the 3/5 compromise was a means of concentrating as much power as possible on the hands of non-slave states by reducing the slave stats' ability to pad their population counts with slaves for the sake of the census and the counting of congressional seats, right?

Wrong, the three-fifths compromise was actually a push from the South to get more congressional seats. The North didn't want them to count at all. But we're not talking about the North. We're talking about the FF.

It was exactly what it was called: a compromise.

Not counting the slaves at all wasn't a viable option at the time.

Your racism is showing, mini. Yes, the natives were treated abominably. We all know that. So what in hell are you "wahing" about?

As I've said. The slaves had it easy.

We didn't count as people until 1924, and we would have loved to be even 3/5.

You were talking about a simplistic view of history?

And I thought it was just evil white cracker honkies who lumped all the injins into one big group

You don't even know YOUR history, and you're now going to tell me about mine?

Physician, heal thyself.

Here is a noble idea:

Lets move on from racism. Human history, in all parts of the world, showed oppression on people b/c of color. WE the USA have moved on from it. Slavery still exists in the world, in Africa. Not here. Native Americans got treated bad. Yep. But our nation healed and moved on.

Don't let horrors of the past prevent us from bonding and moving forward.

'My' history? You mean my experiences during my lifetime?

Or are you just letting your racism show again as you make assumptions about my ethnicity?

Whites bought the black slaves from other blacks.

Europeans have enslaved other Europeans in the past. (Hence why some folk hate being called 'Anglo'- the anglos did horrible things to their ancestors)

It has more to do with the ingroup versus the outgroup than with ethnicity itself.

I see, so blacks and slavery are your history, not American's history? Besides being ignorant, what if I said that about white Americans, shut up, it's not your history. Would you be cool with that?

I know my history.

People of all races and nationality have done fucked-up stuff to each other in the past.

HOWEVER, how beautiful if we could put it forever in the past, and see each other for everything EXCEPT skin color now? I'm in. Who else is? Skin color matters 0% to me. The brutal stuff people did 100's of years ago are thankfully in the past.

Only overbearing, big-government forced equality will ever bring back those horrors. Like the Soviet Union. North Korea. Cuba. Venezuela. China. Thats why the right fears socialism. Like cancer, it can be benign (Norway) or malignant (USSR/China/Cuba). Me? I'd rather just not have cancer.

Big government equality forced the south to its knees in the 1860s and the 1960s.

That was necessary, no way to get around it.

I wish we could get away from it today but the bigrebs and tanks and the rest of the trash still exist.

Bravo. I disagree with lots you say, but you're right 100% on this.

Slavery was never about race. It's the ingroup vs outgroup. Slavery still happens in Africa today. China. Mexico.

But being a voice against racism is profitable these days. Some don't grasp that it's haves vs have nots, not race vs race.

True. And we now have equal opportunity for all races and both genders.

But not equal outcome. Liberalism wants equal outcome, not equal opportunity. And equal outcome can only be done by massive, brutal force. See: China, USSR, Cuba, N. Korea, Nazis.

Do you think I care if you call me a racist?

I'm a Native American. I don't give a fuck what any of y'all think.

Call me a racist. Call me a homo. Call me a redskin. Call me a ******. I don't care. Call me any pejorative, bigoted slur you can imagine. I've heard them all.

Its all good.

Because if they don't apply, I don't hear them.

See.....this is why you don't just jump in the middle of a thread and start wailing away.
