Zone1 What Jesus endured, we also must endure or we won't make it to Heaven

We could say that this o.p. has things reversed. Jesus had to suffer what we do, as humans, with our fears, pains, temptations, suffering and the ever-overhanging fact that death is always beside us, ready to end our precious existence. This is at least partly why he always referred to himself as the son of man; his time on earth was necessitated, "fathered", by mankind and our need for compassion.

Right. And because it's a work-based religion, it inevitably leads to pride.

"Do it my way, my way is best. My way or the highway"
Catholics take to heart all the verses that note we are servants of God, slaves even, and that we are to discern the will of God and follow it. (Easy to find all these verses.) This is the narrow way, so in that respect you may be right. The choices are the narrow way or that broad highway.

"Man" is only "slave" to his "sin". Jesus' message is all about freedom and choice.

Freedom is found via the way/will of God. Otherwise, we are stuck with what is likely the worst and most selfish taskmaster of all--oneself, doing nothing.

The next time life throws you a curve ball and it smacks you in the face, maybe you will remember this thread

Here are some curve balls some people experience:

cancer
cancer of a loved one
heart attack
stroke
lose a job
hate your job
high car repairs
can't afford a house (or sometimes just a meal) because dims are in the WH and control the Senate and love spending--- --money that is not theirs
the Invasion

Are you unable to provide for your family?

Close. But why?

The Catholic Church is "of the world". It is NOT Jesus's church here on Earth. Many of their doctrines are contrary to what Jesus and the apostles taught. With that said, there are many holy Catholics who are absolutely a part of the body of Christ's Church.

Yet you can't answer the question about the meaning of what Jesus spoke. And a "Catholic" who belongs to a church that is "not of the world of Jesus" according to you, is about to teach you the meaning of what Jesus wrote. Oh, the irony.

If you understand and follow Jesus Christ's two most important teachings - both taken from the Old Testament - then you would by default follow the 10 Commandments.

PART 1:"Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength."

PART 2: "Love Your Neighbor As Yourself"

1. Thou shalt not have any
other gods before God. - PART 1

2. Thou shalt not make yourself
an idol. PART 1

3. Thou shalt not take the
Lord's name in vain. PART 1

4. Remember the
Sabbath Day and keep it Holy. PART 1

5. Honor your Father and Mother. PART 1 and PART 2

6. Thou shalt not murder. PART 1 and PART 2

7. Thou shalt not commit
adultery. PART 2

8. Thou shalt not steal. PART 2

9. Thou shalt not testify or
bear false witness against your neighbor. PART 2

10. Thou shalt not
covet. PART 2.

Matthew 22:

"Everything in the Law and the Prophets depends on these two commandments.”

Does that make sense?

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill them"

You must not understand or follow Jesus Christs two most important teachings because you have set aside the Law, the very first commandment, and turn to a lifeless matzo for spiritual life. Derp.

Either that or your deranged adoration of a matzo is a deliberate demonstration of hatred for God.

Thanks for sharing.

And you have never shared in Christ's suffering so as to transform yourself into a decent human being.

Right, Because God never gave his people "bread from heaven"? Does Manna ring a bell?

And no, Catholics do not turn to a "lifeless matzo" for "spiritual life". It is consecrated - as Jesus consecrated the bread during the Last Supper - Gave it to his Apostles and said, "This is my Body".

And Holy Communion is only a "part" of "Spiritual Life" for Catholics - as a matter of fact, the "Power" of the Holy Communion is vastly dependent on the faith of the person and how his/her faith translates into their lives.

For some, it truly becomes the Body of Christ - for others it may not be as effective - because their faith (and works) do not represent someone who is in "communion" with God. Understand?

You know - you were baptized Catholic and received the sacraments, correct? It isn't too late to come back...then you too then can receive the Eucharist and be in communion with God.

For me I experience his crucifixion and resurrection. It's quite the roller coaster ride so to speak.

And, no. He won't understand. His mind is made up and his ax has been sharpened. He's on a mission.

You are both correct. You can't have two masters. We're all going to be a slave to something. The only choice in the matter is what we choose to be a slave to.
