Here is a perfect example. We have a liberal making a light-hearted comment referring to his political persuasion with a common conservative pejorative and a conservative coming back with an attempted personal attack.

Does that mean conservatives are more rude? No... it just means that the one above is kind of a dick. I would also guess that all he knows about lesbians, he learned from porn... but I could be wrong.

People might claim that I am merely assuming their intentions and they would be right... but my post would be even more boring if I didn't.

Democracy defines how we choose the people who make our laws, and on how they decide when there is sufficient agreement among them. Each law prescribes consequences for not being in compliance with it. Whether any particular person chooses the consequences over complying is their personal decision.

If it were, we would be following laws that were passed by legislatures 175 years ago. All of them. No amendments, no Supreme Court rulings, nothing. Bare bones colonial laws.

You're missing the point. The term "will" suggests that citizens follow the law regardless of it's standing in precedent, or its roots in justice. Tyranny follows those guidelines, monarchies follow these guidelines. We the people have the power to change, prescribe or petition amendments to the law, we even have the power to introduce law and vote on it. That is why states are able to pass their own laws so long as they don't conflict with the higher law. We normally refer to this as the "democratic" process.

Law will never be absolute. Law can become obsolete. Remember that.
