In the same "boat" Sassy. My G-Grandparents(on both sides) came over during WWII. They followed all the obligations and spent more than it should have been to become citizens and still were watched heavily during their time. Did they bitch and moan? No, they still followed protocol and did what they needed to do to become U.S. citizens. I still remember my G-Grandpa having that American flag hanging outside his house until it was tattered.
This is the reason why I have so much issue when I see someone jump the border and then scream AZTLAN...
