Why did Jimmy Carter accomplish so little during his 4 years as president?

The north eastern liberal Ted Kennedy slobering loving elite despised and hated Jimmy Carter.
They fucked him and planned his demise November 3, 1976 day after the election.

HOW DARE A SOUTHERN DEMOCRAT TAKE AWAY WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY KENNEDY!!!!!

Exactly - Carter was reducing debt & deficits, but Fat Ass Ted Kennedy threw a fit and triggered a US default on debt causing high interest rates.

Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, are a couple of Presidents I respect the most for putting politics aside and doing what was best for the country. Carter's policies broke the back of run-away inflation, brought Israel and Egypt together and help initiate the downfall of the Soviet Union. Initiating an economic slow down as Carter did and raising taxes as H.W. did certainly isn't any way to win popularity contests, but both their successors and Americans benefitted from their actions.

What was Jimmy Carter supposed to accomplish?

Well you know, the usual Murkin glory stuff....

Iraq...
Kosovo...
Sudan...
Panama...
Kuwait...
Grenada...
Libya...
Vietnam...
Cambodia...
Congo...
Dominican Republic..
Korea...
El Salvador....
Guatemala...
Nicaragua...
Chile....
Iran...
Philippines....

Yet he didn't get a damn thing done. None of the above. Not a one. No wonder we voted him out.

Here's how little Carter accomplished:

"We kept our country at peace. We never went to war. We never dropped a bomb. We never fired a bullet."

Only President in the last 83 years who can make that statement.

What a "failure"....

this is what he accomplished that will be remembered.

"The Misery Index gained its fame in 1976 when Jimmy Carter disparaged his competitor for the oval office, Gerald Ford, by suggesting that no man responsible for giving the country a Misery Index as high as that seen during Ford's presidency had a right to even ask to be president. Four years later, the Misery Index topped 20 and set a high-water mark that still stands today."

Double digit inflation, double digit interest rates, record high gas prices, Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (shortly after the signing of the Salt ll Treaty, which showed Carter's stupidity), Iranian Hostage Crisis. Yeah, a raging success.

About the most ignorant comment I've read in quite awhile. Inflation was rampant throughout the 70's. Nixon's wage and price controls didn't stop it. Ford's silly WIN buttons (Whip Inflation Now) surprisingly didn't do the trick. Carter's selection of Paul Volcker and his policy of putting the economy on ice was the best action by a Fed chairman we've had in quite a while. And the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was their Vietnam which ended up bankrupting them. Yes, the Iranian Hostages Crisis costs 6 American lives but that was a hell of a lot less than the lives lost during the crisis-upon-crisis Reagan years.

Reagan bankrupted the USSR by building up our military and in so doing prevented a Nuclear war.

The Soviets didn't increase spending on defense during the Reagan years, yet our greatest concern for losing a nuclear war was during the Reagan years.

Actually the USSR bankrupted itself.
It was doing Trump, the Game before Don-Don was.

The USSR did not fall until 1991...

The USSR fell because of a moral re-evaluation of the communist system which produced tyranny.
The movement was initiated by the top of the USSR govt. under Gorbachev..

The same moral re-evaluation which started the Arab Spring in Tunisia...

One guy I believe that surely doesn't get his just due in knocking the Soviets off their thrown is Poland's Lech Walesa.
