Why does anyone care about slavery in America 153 years ago?

Blacks should be livid at Democrats for endlessly importing low end workers to take the jobs of poor blacks
Some blacks are. Many others though, aren't interested in jobs, and look to Democrats to supply them with social programs$$ they can use to avoid a job.

.... when most of what you purchase is made by slaves today?
How is it possible for people to lament so much about our slave history, when day after day they gleefully buy products basically made by slaves?
Today's slaves are not forced into labor, they are not bought and sold like 150 years ago.... but make no mistake about it - they exist everywhere. And you are wearing the results of their labor right now.
Did you know most slave owners in America paid their slaves? In many counties they were required by law to do so.
Is it not disingenuous to cry about slavery that existed 150+ years ago....and then consistently choose products made using slave wages?

What do you consider to be 'slave wages'?

As someone who has traveled and been to many foreign factories- and has actually monitored what foriegn countries pay their employees- please tell me more.

See I think that there really is a difference between the slavery we had in 1850- where the slave owner could rape 12 year old little girls or boys and sell off babies from their mothers- to a factory in Vietnam employing people who make far less than we do- but chose to work in the factory rather than work with a hoe in a field.

Liberal media (PBS especially) relentlessly show stuff about slavery, and old black & white footage from Jim Crow days, to keep blacks angry, when all the while, they're getting Affirmative Action favoritism. Keeps the AA covered up, and deflected from.

Yeah protectionist sure is longing for those 'good old slavery' days when everyone knew their place.

I won't soil my eyes with the WaPo.

Try another source. My statement stands.

The premise of this thread is a pile of shit. About the only place that chattel slavery still exists is in goatfucker-land.

Oh its pretty much slavery in North Korea. Not that we are wearing anything made in NK

It is simply easy. It is easy for about half of Americans and the rest of the world to pretend that America invented slavery and colonization and blame America for all those ills.=.

Its easy for an idiot like you to make stupid claims like above.

Why exactly are you trying to apologize for American slavery?

It was an evil institution that did exist- no reason to pretend it didn't or that it wasn't evil.

America didn't invent it or colonization- but we did both.

No, I long for those good old days before Affirmative Action, when racists did not discriminate against white people.

CORRECTION: THEY did, not "we"

And they did not colonize. They were colonized - and actually we still are, by Mexico et al countries (America # 1 victim of remittance imperialism - $138 Billion/year in 2016)

Do you have an evidence anyone in America raped girls and boys, besides jewish rabbis and catholic priests, in American history?

Slavery in America was unique in that it was simply lazy labor that was paid for with room and board and the right to fuck any ho and have offspring. Raping was dealt with by the death penalty though. That horrible form of justice.

Because it still impacts America today.

There is slavery in America today. Almost all of it is Muslim immigrants who follow the advocation of slavery in the Koran, and bring the slavery culture from the Middle East and North Africa here with them.

"There is (a) class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. ... "

"There is a certain class of race problem-solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

There is your clue why certain blacks won't let it go. All white liberals could not care less if they tried.

They sure believe they care though. Which, is only one example of many that indicate how delusional they are.

yes, a sad part of our history. But today dems are trying to bring it back up as a political wedge issue. Because they have nothing else to run on.

Funny because the usual ones I see bringing it up here are Right wing Confederate fanboy apologists.

Because in the end, Conservatives like yourself still miss the days when you could own your own African Americans.
