Guy, let's get real here. In some states in our fine union, 14 year olds can get married. When I was in the Army, some kid from JesusLand (which is what I call all the inbred southern states) was in the Army because he was given a choice between that and going to jail for knocking up his 13 year old girlfriend. He had a major meltdown in boot camp when he found out she was putting it up for adoption.

The notion of adulthood starting at 18 is really a pretty recent one. Back in the days of the Founding Fathers, 13 year olds got married and went to war.

And you wingnuts fought for the right to try 13 year olds as adults and even sentence them to death before SCOTUS put a stop to that shit.
