BLM is also concerned with the level of brutality, abuse and daily harassment that blacks suffer at the hands of police on a daily basis, that doesn't end with the death of suspects, but rather is designed to keep blacks docile and "in their place". To remind them that the police can make their lives miserable or kill them at any time. This every day brutality has just as, if not more, damaging to the black community than
the 400 black suspects that police kill every year.

And while police also kill about 400 white suspects every year, the white community is not subjected to the level of daily brutality and abuse which is common in the black communities. Virtually every black male I know has been stopped for "driving while black", and that's in Canada. My weekly poker game was always 1/3 white, 1/3 black, 1/3 Asian, which is reflective of downtown Toronto.

I used to have discussions with my ex-cop roommate and his friends, and they thought nothing of harassing civilians for fun and profit. These were guys from the most brutual downtown precinct in Toronto history, at a time when the Police chief was a right wing asshole who was fired for his racism. When I questioned them on the rights of suspects who are innocent until proven guilty, they said these guys are guilty. If they're not guilty of this, they're guilty of something else. That's how they rationized the abuses.

One thing that I haven't seen anyone mention is that a cop's raises and promotions are based on the number of arrests they make, and the $$ value of the tickets they issue. Many forces have quotas on the traffic tickets, which are a key component of policing budgets. There's a LOT of incentive for the officer to lay charges and write tickets. More speeding tickets are issued and traffic stops occur in the last week of the month, especially at the usual "fishing holes" as cops struggle to make quotas. Such policies do little in the way of "serving or protecting" civilians, and much to encourage predatory policing practices, and make community member wary and distrustful of the police.

Communism is dead. If it ever existed, it ended with Stalin. Thereafter what Americans call "communism", is left wing authoritarian dictatorships. Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Assad, the Shah of Iran, Sadam Hussein, the Kim Dynasty in NK, Pinochet. Authoritarian dictatorships on the left or the right tend to devolve into mass incarcerartion, murder or genocide of the people.

Your 1960's stories of communism in Cuba have no relevance to BLM, or police brutality.
