Arabs began the fight over hundred years ago. Jews were encouraged to invest in and develop their historic homeland.

No army or police force could enter the camps. It was Amin that made the offer to flush out the remaining PLO fighters in the camps, fighters that were supposed to have left with Arafat.
What happened in the camps have more to do with Hobeika's personal vendetta and syrian maneuvering than with Israel. Syria and hezbullah's forerunner amal killed thousands for two consecutive years. I am an Irish Catholic. Were I to jump through the necessary hoops, I could convert to Judaism and I would be an Irish Jew. I would not be indigenous to Israel.

You can make up all the simplistic and absurd rules that you want but over 70% of Israeli Jews are third generation or later. They are colonizers or the children of colonizers and they are displacing people whose families have lived in the region for centuries or even millenia. Perhaps you should look up the real meaning of "indigenous people".

Jewish people of Israel today, with some minor exceptions, are no more of an indigenous people to Israel than Catholics are an indigenous peopleto Italy or Mormons are indigenous people to Utah.

Israel's moderation might have kept them from a decisive one two punch but the damage to Lebanon was minimal. Roads, bridges, infrastructure have been rebuilt better than before. Israel could easily have bombed Lebanon back into the stone age, but didn't. They carefully disabled only what they needed to.
Hezbullah brought on the fight, goading Israel. Israel handicapped itself in an attempt to spare Lebanon excessive destruction.

Israel started this fight in 1948 when 650,000 mostly recent immigrants from Europe inflicted an ethnocracy on twice as many non-Jews in Palestine. Israel deliberately targeted civilians and infrastructure in 2006 fully expecting to reach the Litani River before "agreeing" to a ceasefire.
