Boy, you really have drunk the kool aid. They can KILL you. They can and do deny you treatment, or coverage, and they can cut you off with nothing, and you have no recourse. You can change companies, but you'll be penalized for that. And you can't vote them out of office.

An insurance company exists to make a profit and the moment you file a claim, you're reducing their profits. When my house and everything in it was destroyed in a tornado, it took me 6 months to settle the claim while I watched them chip away at the amount owned to me. It was very instructive.

The Province hasn't threatened anybody with arrest - all they're doing is raising premiums for the unvaxxed. Something that insurance companies already do for smokers, and in some cases, the obese. You seem to have no problem with being forced to buy car insurance, if you drive, but you have a problem with requiring people to have health insurance. Not everybody has a car, but everybody is going to need health care.

Your fear and paranoia about government is ridiculous, as is your trust of libertarianism. Yet you trust corporations that exist for the sole purpose of separating you from your money as effectively and efficiently as possible.

With nearly half the country likely to have had the Omicron variant by the end of January, the number of cases should fall rapidly in February and March to a level lower than we had with Delta in Sept. Since most of the Omicron infections will be the unvaccinated this should help a lot with future infections.

With the added natural immunity from Omicron and previous variants coupled with increases in vaccinations of the young, and 62% of adults fully vaccinated and 34% boosted, March and April will likely mark the beginning of end of the Covid epidemic in the US. We will still have to contend with Covid but not at an epidemic level. It will be endemic with occasional flair ups. The biggest threat will come from abroad particular if we see more dangerous variants and interest in vaccinations fall off, which is likely. If that happens we could find ourselves again in an epidemic.

I actually don't disagree with that, merely pointing out that if Trump were still president right now, he would be attacked all over the place by the left for the current state of Covid.

Going to the ER because you feel sick does not effect whether cases are positive or negative. In regard to numbers of deaths, there is always a margin error with any deaths due to illness because there are usually multiple factors that lead to death.

If you can’t or won’t see the real time changes in how each variant affects the infected than there is no conversation to be had. The takeaway any rational, reasonable person should recognize is that vaccinations preserve life. That has held true since the beginning.

Back in October, we had plenty of tests. You could buy rapid tests in any drugstore. I suppose if the White House had a crystal ball so they could predict the fast spreading Omicron variant that hit the US by Dec, they would have made more tests available.

This month Biden said he would make 500 million tests available and this week a website website will open so people can order tests to be delivered in a week or so. By the time these tests reach most people, the Omicron variant will be reseeding and in another month, the Right will be attacking Biden for wasting millions on unneeded test kits.
