...The country is fucked if they do. Congressional democrats may be mostly useless, but they at least push legislation that popular opinion supports:

1) Raising the minimum wage
2) Background checks for gun ownership
3) Extending unemployment insurance
4) Path to citizenship for illegal immigrants

Yes Obama's approval ratings are at an all time low, but guess what? He still has twice the approval ratings republicans do. Even democrats have higher approval ratings. So why will republicans likely take the senate? I have no idea. They are corrupt, self interested, scumbags. Americans need to wake up. I dream of a world without republicans and their propaganda machine Fox News.

Our biggest economic problem is the enormous wealth inequality in this country. 1% of the top earners own 40% of the nation's wealth. Meanwhile the federal minimum wage hasn't kept up with inflation. Since the recession there has been a significant decrease of high wage jobs and a significant increase in low wage jobs all while corporate profits are at an all time high. Productivity has increased 100% since the 30s for the Lower classes yet wages have only increased 8%. 95% of the income gains have gone to the top 5% of earners. Expert economists say this massive wealthy disparity will only lead to more economic crises. Do you really think republicans are going to do ANYTHING about this problem? No. They won't touch it. They will let it continue. We don't even need to come close to socialism to fix this problem. The wealthy class can still thrive with higher wages for the lower classes.

According to the CBO, raising the min wage to 10.10 will cost 500,000 jobs (big maybe on that). However it will lift 16 million people out of poverty. Not only that, but the higher wages means more consumer spending which means JOB CREATION.

Say what you want about Obama, but we have had consistent job growth since his first year in office. A slow recovery no doubt, but we should all be grateful the economy isn't collapsing.

Why should you vote democrat? Is it because they will fix everything? No. Of course not. The reason you should vote democrat is to keep republicans out of office. Democrats are simply the lesser of two evils.

There you have four good reasons why the voters don't want Dims to run the Senate.

Yes Obama's approval ratings are at an all time low, but guess what? He still has twice the approval ratings republicans do. Even democrats have higher approval ratings.

Anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together knows that you can't compare the approval ratings of a group of 45 people with the approval rating of a single man. Obama's approval rating is in Bush territory.

So why will republicans likely take the senate? I have no idea. They are corrupt, self interested, scumbags. Americans need to wake up. I dream of a world without republicans and their propaganda machine Fox News.

Here are two more really good reasons:

  1. Obamacare.
  2. The economy sucks.

They will let it continue. We don't even need to come close to socialism to fix this problem. The wealthy class can still thrive with higher wages for the lower classes..

Our biggest economic problem is the Democrat party. Massive tax increases and crippling regulations do not encourage economic growth. Even the dimmist of Dims is beginning to understand that. Coal miners in West Virginia know why they are unemployed, and it isn't because some broker in New York city is making a fortune trading coal futures.

According to the CBO, raising the min wage to 10.10 will cost 500,000 jobs (big maybe on that). However it will lift 16 million people out of poverty. Not only that, but the higher wages means more consumer spending which means JOB CREATION.

Why should you vote democrat? Is it because they will fix everything? No. Of course not. The reason you should vote democrat is to keep republicans out of office. Democrats are simply the lesser of two evils.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

That's funny!

If only Democrats didn't squander the opportunity they were handed in 2008.

If only they created good legislation, put money toward infrastructure instead of settling for photo ops in front of bridges, put their weight behind comprehensive immigration reform in the first year of the Obama administration as explicitly promised, crafted a health reform law which was good enough that they didn't need to lie about it, honored pledges about lobbyists and transparency, ... little things like that.

If they had been trustworthy, perhaps their hold on the Senate would not be endangered now.

I don't agree with most of the specifics you put here, but I agree dems squandered good opportunities.

If only republicans in Congress had funded those infrastructure and jobs programs when they were proposed.

They could have shit gold bricks and it wouldn't have mattered. It's a 50-50 country and the GOP wouldn't support Obama if he said Reagan was God Incarnate. It's politics in America kids, deal with it.

So you guys are conceding the election now? If we have survived this long with Democrats having so much power, we will survive with the people being able to check Democrat power.

Because Americans have only two choices. When one party fails, they elected the other one in droves, which then fails and they do the very same thing as soon as they are able to. It's stupidity but that's America in a nutshell. They have hope but no damn common sense, and so on the games goes, time after time, and the results are always the same, jack-shit that actually matters.

Not really defeat, just a temporary setback. The cards are all in favor of Republicans in the race for control of the Senate, this time. But in 2016, it's gong to be a very different story as the cards will favor Dems. Assuming Hillary runs, Republicans will lose the Senate, if they do get control back this year, and there is a very good chance they lose the House in 2016 also, even with all the advantages they have.

That's a partisan answer. That stats don't show that, quite the opposite in fact.

That's pretty much BS. People suffer when the economy is bad. That usually is not the fault of Republicans or Dems. We always want to blame a political party for the economy but it's usually more about other reasons than politics. We can look back through our history and find good and bad times under both Dems and Republicans, so it's not like we are better off with one or the other or that one of them is responsible for every downturn in the economy.

Last thing to remember is that despite the sluggish economy, we have a lot of people who are working. We tend to act like everyone is out of work, but the fact is that I only know of a couple of people who are out of work. Everyone else I know is working. Now, I will admit that not everyone is working in a job that they would choose, but at least they are working.

As right as you are, they will never believe you. The problem with the rightwing is that too many of them don't even understand what liberalism is. They just listen to what Fox News says about them. They don't want to learn anything about liberals that doesn't confirm their bias.

And that is as much intellectual garbage as you're ever going to see folks. We know what liberalism is. We don't need Fox News to know what you are. You make it clearly evident by what you support and whom you support. It's not rocket science.

And if I may, that is a mighty fine piece of self projection there. So, let me put it this way:

"They (liberals) don't want to learn anything about conservatives that doesn't confirm their bias."
