148,000 jobs added in December

Can we logically blame Trump for this disappointing number, i.e., using the same 'logic' that Trump supporters used to give him credit for every good number in the past year?

Oh, btw, will we hear from the Trumptard(s) who predicted a three or four hundred thousand number?

The purported reason for the GOP tax scam was to help create MILLIONS of new jobs........Are any right wingers on here willing to stake their gonads that such will happen?

U.S. Added 148,000 Jobs in December; Unemployment at 4.1%

That ends the year with an average number of jobs per month added at 171,000. The lowest monthly average since 2010.

Personally I'm more interested to see the latest JOLT data (Jan 9th) since it should give a better view of the impact of structural unemployment on the labor force, I suspect we're at or close to full employment so the jobs report isn't telling us that much regarding where we're at in the business cycle and what to expect with regards to wages.

On the bright side, looks like the equities markets are shrugging off the disappointing numbers in the jobs report, futures are green across the board.

Which even CNN admits is common the longer a period of economic expansion continues.

December jobs report: U.S. economy added 2 million jobs in 2017

The United States added almost 3 million jobs in 2014, 2.7 million in 2015 and 2.2 million in 2016. That trend is what's expected in such a long economic expansion. As unemployment moves to historic lows, job gains eventually slow down.

If CNN even admits this is common.....

4.1%? That has to be the lowest in 20 years
Good news!

That is a good number, and about where it will stay. Since such records have been kept it has only been lower than that 14% of the time and in modern time (1980 forward) it has only been lower than that 2% of the time.

The Trump zealots counting on it going much lower are going to be sadly disappointed.

But according to you Trump zealots, there was no expansion till the day that Trump took office. You cannot have it both ways

There are so many jobs around here places like manpower(people that handle temporary workers for companies) are having job fairs every week.
