There are some Republicans who do support gay marriage. There are also some Dems who do not. The same holds true for abortion. There are some Republicans who are pro-choice and some Dems who are Pro-Life. Republicans should really concentrate on fiscal issues over the social agenda, because they are going to lose the social agenda in the long run.

First, procreation is not the only purpose of marriage. My wife and I have been married for 3 years and we haven't had a child yet. Many married people choose not to have kids. Many married people can't have kids. Are you telling me it's wrong for a 70 year old woman (who's now older and infertile) to marry another 70 year old? Or do you only apply those standards when it helps your argument?

Also, gay people can most definitely raise a family of smart, successful, children that contribute to our economy; I've witnessed it firsthand directly in front of my face. They have the option to adopt or use a surrogate to help produce a child. Many married straight couples choose these options too (I have a handful of friends who were adopted by straight couples). Those ARE REAL CHILDREN, natstew.
