There is nothing preventing insurers from selling across state lines.

It is just very complicated. Each state has unique requirements. You have to set up a network of Doctors, Pharmacies and Hospitals in each state and negotiate rates

It's already failing. Millions of Americans can no longer afford the premiums. They've had to drop their coverage because it's just not an option they can afford. Those who can afford it are finding out they can't really use it unless it's something catastrophic because the deductibles are so high. It hasn't done anything it was promised to do.

The exchanges have been a failure as predicted because young people aren't signing up. You've now added a few more million to the Medicaid rolls but that could've been done without destroying the entire healthcare system. And now we get a bunch of incompetent Republicans trying to smear lipstick on the pig and take full ownership of this nightmare.

REPEAL IT! Return this to the private sector and seek free market solutions. That's ALL that will work.

I think it is one measure that would certainly help bring down cost. It would open the market to competition and that's good for the consumer. There are other free market solutions as well.

No, single payer doesn't work... unless you like dead people who couldn't get care. Yeah, I know... other countries... they also have lots of dead people who weren't counted in their statistics. If you're healthy enough to make it until you get your rationing of care you do pretty well, if not, you die and you're not factored into the stats.

Well, first of all you have stop listening to bullshit propaganda. I'm not here to defend the GOP health care fiasco but I can tell you about taxes. First of all, corporations don't pay taxes, their consumers do. The richest families also don't pay taxes because wealthy people don't have to earn incomes. The top marginal income earners aren't rich people but they pay about 90% of the taxes. Therefore, any reduction in tax burden is going to be realized by them more than anyone. For the 40% of the country who don't pay taxes, you can't reduce them.

Now let's talk about this specific tax... it's not really a tax, it's a penalty for not carrying insurance. It had to be called a tax by John Roberts in order for it to be constitutional but it would have never cleared congress as a tax because it would've needed a supermajority which it never had.

And if you believe it helps you more... open up your wallet and send all your money to Washington D.C.! No one is stopping you! I personally think you're helped more by keeping the money that you earned. But feel free to prove me wrong.
