My solution would be NO primaries at all. Anyone can run if they can get the required signatures (which would mean money and organization). The election would ranked choice so the fringe/unknown candidates would be knocked out immediately. Candidates supported by the opposite party only would also get knocked out immediately. Eventually it would come down to two candidates and the one with a majority would win. No third-party spoilers.One positive thing I see from the midterms is clear cut examples of why parties need closed primaries.

And not "closed but you can switch your party registration the week before closed" but "closed by like 6 months closed".

the constitution says they have right of due process,,The UNION GOVERMENT, which was the actual government of the United States at the time, said they were Americans. They had to or other countries might recognize the Confederacy as an actual nation. Instead all the Confederacy got was "belligerent status".
The government issuing the citizenship says you are a citizen or not, based on the rules of the Constitution of said government.
