I was listening to a call in show on CSPAN about an hour ago, there were not a lot of call showing love for the democrats. Independents didn't understand what the democrat problem was with security, and even some democrat callers are getting ticked off being branded the anti-security party. Trump shouldn't cave, he has overwhelming support. Democrats are nuts for stumping on an anti-security agenda. It is like shooting yourself in the foot with a bazooka.

Call in shows mean nothing. Even Limbaugh doesn't claim that the calls he takes are representative of public opinion. I doubt that many people listened and they do not support a wall.

I tend to agree that politically, this is a BIG loser for the Democrats. More importantly, they are back to their narrow minded view of America through the lens of the Bubbles of NY, Cali and Washington and voters will notice. The Mid West and places like Texas that had some leanings to Dems just got a smack in the face. "Oh yeah,I almost forgot who these guys represent".

Politically this is a BIG loser for Republicans. Trump's closing arguments in the midterms was on illegal immigration and it led to a record gain for Democrats in the House. Republicans are on their heels for 2020.
