You're confusing criminal law with civil law, where the former concerns criminal acts against another, and the latter concerns the right of individuals to be free from unwarranted interference by the state with regard to private matters, such as whether to have a child or not.

We shouldn't have laws when they are unenforcable and have no deterrent value.

The laws against murder are effective -reasonably- because people don't want to go to jail for the rest of their lives. So murders usually only happen in the heat of the moment.

For abortion, when it was illegal, it was rarely enforced, women never went to prison for having them and abortionists only went to jail if they screwed up and seriously injured the women.

And was BEFORE women could vote, had rights, and were used to having the right to end unwanted pregnancies for 40 years.

The president has never stated a desire or goal to 'take away' guns from anyone.

Moreover, it would be logistically and procedurally impossible to 'confiscate' firearms per the Fifth Amendment's Takings Clause, requiring due process and just compensation for any personal property taken by the government. A warrant would need to be issued pursuant to the 'taking' of each and every firearm, a fair hearing would have to be conducted to review the merits of the taking of each and every firearm – even if the courts were to rule that such takings were justified, a hearing would still need to be conducted for every rife, handgun, and shotgun.

Consequently the notion of 'gun confiscation' is ignorant idiocy.

Also ignorant idiocy is the notion that abortion is 'murder,' as a fact of Constitutional law it is not.
