THE first of three convicted US killers to be put to death in a 24-hour period has been executed.
Marcus Wellons, 59, who had been convicted of rape and murder, was executed by injection.

The day of executions marks the first lethal injections in the country since a botched execution in Oklahoma intensified America’s debate over the death penalty nearly two months ago.

All the states planning lethal injections — Florida, Georgia and Missouri — refuse to say where they get their drugs, or if they are tested.
