The Obama Administration threatened what could be described as diplomatic and economic sanctions against the Palestinians if their leader, Mahmoud Abbas, goes through with his own threat to dismantle the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas hinted at such a move in an interview last week with Egyptian media, complaining that Israel’s unwillingness to meet 100 percent of Palestinian demands meant a two-state solution was increasingly unlikely.

Over the weekend, Palestinian officials told Israeli media that Abbas and his senior aides were considering canceling the “Oslo Accords” and dismantling the Palestinian Authority, a move that would make Israel directly responsible for all Palestinian Arabs and dangerously tip local demographic figures.

Israel would have to do a Cast Lead type attack on the West Bank to keep that from happening.

There have been no recent election. Hamas would not allow them to take place or let candidate from other parties campaign. There needs to be a unity between hamas and the PA before election, and a new government, can take place.

Let the US sanction Palestine, there is not much more damage that the U.S. and Israel can do to those people. But what goes around comes around.

Some people do forget how much money, equipment, time and effort the US has put into helping the palestinians. Instead of cheering terrorists that attack the US or defaming and bad mouthing the US or recruiting radicals to fight, both abroad and within the US, it would be nice to see a smile, get a hand shake or hear a thank you on occasion. If someone offers you food, you don't chew off their arms and walk all over them.
Peace should be the goal from all sides. Negotiations unfortunately have been used to regroup and replenish supplies for the next round of attacks on Israel.
The idea a negotiated peace was doomed to fall apart without hamas on board. There should have been a focus on creating a unity government that could negotiate a peace deal with Israel.

jews had been returning to their homeland for almost a century before the mandate. They had always been returning through the millennia.
The problem was not the jews. Hussein had made the arab think that there was not enough land for them. During Roman times Jerusalem had more than a million people and at passover it could swell to 2.5 million. In a land that barely had half a million at the end of the ottoman empire, the jewish immigration was not a threat but a benefit for the land and economy.
Arab population doubled during the mandate mostly from immigration and close to twenty percent was illegals seeking jobs created by jews.
Where as productivity in arab state including syria and transjordan by an average of 80% after the fall of the Ottoman, in the palestinians mandate it increased 180+%. The difference was the jewish presence.
There was enough land and the economy was growing, but the arabs in the pal mandate were rioting and attacking jews. It was illogical, but hate, especially irrational does that to some people.
