What "entitlement" programs are you referring to?Its a case where some once great American cities are losing their relevance. It has happened throughout history. Detroit is a prime example of a city that was built on a single industry collapses when that industry falters

Meanwhile we have great American cities that are still great and cities most people never heard of 20 years ago that are booming
It's not because they are run by Democrats and have gone broke buying votes with unsustainable entitlement programs... Nope, it couldn't be.
it goes without saying that the cities are liberal, the more decayed a city is the more liberal it is, and the most decayed part of a city is the most liberal part. This is why Jefferson feared cities so much. He felt people living so close together would inevitably necessitate a lot of sharing and commonality and eventually everyone would be trying to leach off everyone else!
He always turned out to be right it seems!
