An Atheists View of Kim Davis' Incarceration For Her Faith

JimBowieTard, you are a crack up. Keep the humor coming.

The left is no more commie than the right is nazi. But you are indeed a fascist.
Fact is the Left is both commie and Nazi. All three adhere to Socialism.

You as a citizen have a civil liberty to get a marriage license without some one denying it because you do not abide by her religious values. The Hillary thing is not comparable. So you have made a fallacy of false equivalency,

No, I didn't...you leftwingnuts simply push out your false narrative equivalents Hoping you shit sticks with the uninformed!!
Yep, a citizen's right to have equal access to country services outweighs the clerk's right to refuse them on religious grounds. You are making a poor false equivalency comparison.

The far right continues to be the greatest obstacle to American exceptionalism.

And that is why you, & your beloved Obuma don't believe in American exceptionalism!
You once again don't understand logic. That the far right is the greatest obstacle to American exceptionalism does not = that lefties don't believe in American exceptionalism. That makes no sense.

The cultural mccarthism of the avgguy and Vigilante and JimBob and the rest of the freaks on the far right and libertian sides continues to fade away. By 2024, they will have no influence except, maybe, in a very small town meetings.

How much damage has Ted swaggart and Jerry Falwell and pedophile Catholic priests done to religion in America. But individually people are lost scared gullible superstitious people easily won back by let's say a liberal Pope.

Not if 20 something citizens continue to not vote.

Forget that people need to go back to church. They need to get out and vote. Not every Sunday and no hat being passed around other than pay your taxes when you start making real money.

The vote in Kentucky was BEFORE the SCOTUs ruling genius, and because I know you wont see the relevance to that, since you are a certified idiot, the SCOTUS reversed the state of Kentucky by judicial fiat, not as you described.

Gay marriage is now legal throughout the U.S. The End.

lol, no it wont be the end, just like Roe wasn't the end and Dred Scott wasn't the end.

This will not remain US law for the next fifty years or the USA will cease to exist.

You really think so little of America and Americans?

That if you don't get your way you think the USA 'will cease to exist'?

But Dred Scott gives you an answer- you don't like the ruling of the Supreme Court- all you have to do is pass a Constitutional Amendment overturning the ruling.

Going to be hard to do though with the majority of Americans disagreeing with you.
It would be easy to install state legislatures who will call for a constutional convention to outlaw gay marriage. Most people don't bother voting in state elections. The Chirstian churches (a la Moral Majority) could easily outvote what you consider the "majority" who agree with gay marriage.
Then do it.

"Never believe a leftist who tells you they believe in democracy. The Kentucky constitution, that’s what democracy looks like. Subverting democracy and the constitutions of both Kentucky and the United States, that is lawlessness and aggression on a scale anarchism can barely even comprehend.

"Some say Kim Davis should just do her job, that her religious convictions do not afford her the right to break the law. But Kim Davis did her job, and the only lawbreakers here are the federal courts. She upheld the constitution of Kentucky despite the violent threats of a belligerent judiciary drunk with power. The majority in Obergefell seized powers not designated to it by any text of the constitution nor any precedent of prior court rulings. They simply decided that gay marriage was good, and thus they would violently oppress anyone who disagreed with them.

"They did so knowing it would be met with a great deal of resistance, not only from religious people, but from anyone with any regard for the constitution of the United States. So the moment that resistance presented itself, the judiciary took the most extreme measure available to it to crush that dissent, and strike fear into all who might follow her lead. Kim Davis is being held in jail, not until some sentence expires, but until she renounces her deity and conforms to the will of the court."

That women poor women in Kentucky, I see her as a victim in this case, a victim of slicked back, smooth talking lawyers who preyed on her beliefs. And wouldn't you know it, all those slicked back, smooth talking lawyers were all men.. In other words, she was taken advantage of, by men, in every legal way possible..
There were two other Kentucky county clerks, both men by the way, who had stopped issuing marriage licenses as well, but they were smart enough not to fall for the slicked back, smooth talking lawyer con that no doubt showed up on their door step asking them to take on their cause..They were men, and they knew how men think..

So in the end, that poor women was as much a victim, as everybody else was in this case..

They said the same thing about the voting clerk who objected to blacks voting. Or when blacks and whites tried to marry. Their holy books said those things were wrong too.

LOL.....first the far right complain about 'judicial fiat' and ignoring the majority- and then when the majority disagree with them- they are quite happy to have a fiat of the minority.

Anyway- if it is 'easy'- and apparently that is all the whacky far right want is an 'easy' way to attack gays- go for it.

I won't be holding my breath.

The minority, divisive group is the far right of the JimBowies.

They lost America because of their bad ways and can't have it back.
They keep control as long as dumb Americans don't vote in midterms.

And "they" have never been richer. Corporations control everything. Government, the media, the economy, the vote, war.

Poor white people are starting to realize to the rich we are all n#$%ers. Bruce Jenner is a rich conservative. Bush would rather live next to Herman Cain and Ben carson than my broke white ass.

There's an interesting documentary clip going around comparing the way that colonial america broke up the partnership of indentured servaants and slaves.......and how the same tactic is being applied to day.

Apparently, you don't necessarily need to get rid of gross disparities of power, wealth and status. You merely need to give one oppressed group the slightest edge to look down on another oppressed group. And it provides the former with a target of the latter for their anger and frustration.

I really hope as a species we're smarter than that.

Most of my life I really believed that America really was the Exceptional Country leading the rest of us to a better world, even with a pretty un-naive recognition of the ugly, sometimes evil array of sins in her closet. Lately I've begun to fear the voices from the Conservative paid shills for the Corporate elite who seem to be claiming the right to lead by a divine right earned by overwhelming power and not by the moral compass that in the end always seemed to point America in the right direction. I fear a majority of Americans will ignorantly fall for the lies about the Iran deal because they're too stupid or lazy to figure out the truth for themselves and you guys will blindly, inevitably be sucked into another Mid-East war that will only benefit the same war profiteers who got a lot richer during the last horror show and cost the rest of you (and Millions in the middle East) so dearly. If you let those neocon bastards fool you again I'm tempted to say that you deserve to become the third world country they're slowly turning you into. In the end I fear America's power will crumble Rome-like under the weight of the Plutocratic greed, hatefull and yet worshipped by those not smart enough to see through the lies Big Money has been force feeding the People for the last 40+ years. As I watched her workers cheer the destruction of the very Unions who had secured and were a bastion under-pinning her middle class who's attainment of the American Dream was one of the beacons encouraging hope in the rest of the world I actually grew angry at the apathetic public grown too complacent and brainwashed into a self induced stupidity, sucking up Wall Street's lies that Wall Street's prosperity meant the people's prosperity. And swallowing the really big lies, like the lie that public education is akin to Communism and the lie that public health care was "wealth distribution" and that was Evil Incarnate. Are you too dumb to realize that wealth being redistributed upwards is yours? Don't you realize that your productivity has been great but that you haven't shared in it's wealth creation? Where did that productivity created wealth that you deserved the lions share of go? You know where it went. It went upwards, and not in a trickle but a gravity defying Niagra of $100 Million bonuses and Golden Parachutes and Billionaire creating stock options.Have you people forgotten that that's your land they're pumping their obscene wealth out of? And your airwaves the Mass Media is making obscene unbounded wealth from. And your taxes that are funding the loopholes that allow the modern day robber barons to amass more billions and allow them to park their assets in offshore tax havens while you fight over the scraps? The poster I'm replying to hopes in the end the American public will prove to be smarter than this, myself I think it's just as likely they will not. The evidence is almost overwhelming. While the Republican's only role in Congress has been to expend it's underwhelming energy blocking any action and therefore denying Obama any traction (from up here where the air may be a little clearer we can't help but suspect more than a moderate tinge of conscious and unconscious racism in their do nothing strategy and Fox New's constant attempts to manufacture scandal at every turn, all Roger's puppets spouting the same unfair and unbalanced rhetoric to the point of orchestrated lie campaigns at times and spouting talking points in controlled lockstep like so many a stepford spouse, married to Roger's largesse and not, as Journalists mostly were in the old days, wedded to telling the truth to us and to power. The American people should be heard in a chorus like in that movie, "We're Mad as Hell And We're Not Going To Take it Anymore". Citizens have an obligation and duty to keep themselves educated and wary of that slimy hand reaching for their pocket book and their dignity while the bastards claim in full-throated hypocritical hyper moral memes that it's for your own good. Don't let us down America.
Did you write that because it was brilliant. Where you live?

If that's a complement and not sarcasm thanks, and even if it is sarcasm I wouldn't deny writing it because I believe it is the truth. Maybe just simple truths seem like brilliance these days.

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Some people say it's one of the most beautiful cities in the World. Mostly because of its setting in one of Nature's environmental masterpieces.

That green space is our Stanley Park, it's about 30yrs. younger than Central Park and 150 acres bigger. About 20 min. from me.

You can walk, run, or bike around the Park along the Sea Wall.

Our closest skiing, not World Class but I can get there in less than an hour.

Skiing at Whistler is World Class but it's over two hrs. away.

Okay I better stop this hometown booster rant, I just want to show you one more thing if you have the Patience.

This is the Vancouver General Hospital where I've been going since I was diagnosed 3yrs. ago. I've seen every kind of Specialist there is and had just about every kind of test there is from MRI's to CAT Scans, EKG's, ECG's you name it. I've undergone Phlebotomies for months, had every kind of blood test known to Man. I haven't experienced any waiting times that seemed abnormal and my Medical bill for all this has been exactly zero. My total cost out of pocket has been about 3% of my prescription costs (some prescriptions aren't covered) Of course I paid into our Universal Health Care plan throughout my relatively healthy 40 yr working life to the tune of $25 to $75 per month. If that's Socialism call me a happy socialist! Isn't it just pathetic that Obama had such a hard time getting his milque-toast plan, what we would call a brutally deficient plan, through Congress and past lunatic sycophantic worshippers of wealth like Ted Cruz? We're pretty non-violent but some of those misinformed and lying Congress people (and Fox News) and the incompetent whimpering access hungry Press, might have been in danger of being lynched if they tried to brainwash us and foist that Health Care "Plan" off on Canadians (just kidding, eh? sorry- no lynchings, . I have to say again I can't believe how gullible most of the U.S. public is and how insidious the Right Wing and the Koch bros. and their ilk are and how easily they lead that public down the Orwellian rabbit hole where the Plutocratic Oligarchy benefit to the tune of hundreds of billions from the Corporate Socialist legal framework their lobbyists have helped craft and who in some cases have even written the Laws that legalize their grand larceny on an unprecedented scale. And yet the average American still seems willing to send their sons and daughters off to wars who's only purpose is to defend a perverse framing of "Freedom" and have swallowed the pill blinding them to the fact that particular brand of Freedom is in reality only designed to make the World free and safe for the International Corporatists to plunder without fear, far and wide. Even if you have been convinced "Socialism" is a dirty word surely it's easy to see what passes for Modern "Capitalism" today has a place in Hell (and most of the true believers believe in that fairytale as well) - a place reserved in Hell for these unpatriotic greedy wanna-be puppet masters at least three levels lower than the most ardent Socialist, even Marx himself. As I alluded to yesterday the Iran treaty is a case in point, Rejecting it would have surely led to war sooner rather than later and yet the neocon jingoists and the Koch types seemed to much prefer war to what very well may be a lasting, if uneasy vigilance demanding peace for decades to come.

Dudes and Esquires,

Can anyone show where some of the People may Infringe on other Persons of the People as a social Power delegated to their representatives to Government in Any State Constitution.

The thread title is a lie, Davis was not jailed due to her faith.

You are correct. She was jailed because of contempt of court and her faith didn't have a damn thing to do with it.

This case has nothing to do with freedom of religion. How do I know? Because Kim Davis told me. She told all of you but some of you didn't hear or didn't want to hear. Let me remind all of you that she has already received the right to practice her religion. She doesn't have to participate in giving marriage licenses to gays. When a gay couple comes in she can go to the bathroom, go across the street for coffee and donuts or simply step aside and allow someone else to perform the legally mandated public service. Her problem is that she won't let anyone else in her office to give gays marriage licenses. She demands that everyone else bow to her religious beliefs at the risk of going to jail and in opposition to their own religious beliefs. She contends she will not allow her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to gays because the licenses bear her name. The reason she gave for not wanting her name or the name of her office on the marriage license proves she is nothing but a crusading bigot: “Kim Davis proposed that her name and title be removed from all marriage licenses. To affix her name on the license gives the impression that she authorizes and approves of same-sex marriage.”

Accommodate Kim’s conscience: Opposing view

Now who in the hell is Kim Davis afraid of giving the wrong impression? God? You're joking, right? If Davis thinks she can give God (an omniscient being) a wrong impression she is strictly looney tunes and a member of a denomination I have never heard of and want nothing to do with. Her own words declare she is concerned first and foremost with what others think about her and this does not entitle her to any special treatment.

According to her attorney, Mat Staver, , “Davis doesn't want her name and title affixed to a same-sex marriage license 'that goes down in the annals of Kentucky history.'" It is obvious that Davis's true concern is that she wants everyone to know she hates gays. This case has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with bigotry and illegal discrimination.
