Now like always they will take on the mythical moral platitude as the democrats resign. They will be propped up as good people doing the right thing. Then, they will point to how Trump needs to do the same thing. When he doesn't, they will claim the moral high ground. If he does (he wont) their ulitmate plan would have worked.
